Yeah unfortunately not all the coaches nominate and attend these meetings would be my guess. There are a ton of guys deserving that were not on the list. How the hell can you only have 2 Olineman on the list in 8A but yet have 5 quarterbacks? No Jarvis from Maine south? Maybe they too busy trying to win a state championship versus nominating and going to meetings? Same with ESL!!! Need I go on?
AJ's D-line mate was selected - rightfully I think. I guess they could not give it to both and agreed that AJ is a three-team All American and he does not need All State, like he is in hoops and track.

Agreed. Every year this team is a joke. Take it with a grain of salt.
There are no excuses. Coaches nominated. His teammate was given all state over him. It is a deliberate action against the kid. This will be two straight years he will be all American but not all state. What an embarrassment to Illinois high school football. Also very obvious bias against metro east with no ESL making the team either.
It's the same crappy thing with All Conference selections in most conferences. All the politicking, the requirement to "spread out the goodies".
There are many times that guys that play both ways should be all conference on both sides of the ball by any outsiders viewpoint watching the games but they are limited to being all conference on just one side of the hall when the voting happens and lists come out.
Couple examples - Last year in the DVC Max Ihry all conference RB selection but not at LB. Same with Isaiah Robinson. All conference as DB but not at WR. Anyone watching the games last year would pick both for both positions - but that leaves two less spots for other kids and so......

I'll say this, I made third- team all metro in Stl only because of my teammates.
I'm positive there were 20 better linebackers left off that "high honor" because we won state.
