Again not true. The national debt increased by almost 8 trillion, not 11, during the Obama administration. Trump's own figures show that if he is reelected next year he plans to increase the debt by over 9 trillion during his administration. The key difference between the two is that Obama was struggling to pull the economy out of the great recession. Trump is stimulating an economy which was already performing fairly well.

You do realize that unemployment during the Obama 8 years was the highest for African American men 20 - 50 years. Highest it had been in years. Unemployment right now is low in all sectors. Whether you like Trump or not the economy is hot.

The economy rebounded and unemployment rates went down - all during Obama’s tenure. Trump has benefited from that upswing and can certainly take credit for not screwing it up.

Trump lowered corporate taxes so that companies would hire more people. Trump has permitted more drilling rights for gas and oil that has created high paying jobs.
That is something that Obama and the democrats are passionate about restricting oil production. Trump is trying to stop illegal immigration which is causing Americans jobs and creating lower wages for middle class Americans. I know that Obama made an effort to do the same just not as hard.
The bad economy did start do to the banking crisis created by bad policies of the democrats. I ask Obama supporters all the time what was Obama's greatest achievement as President and the only thing they can come up with is the Affordable Care Act. Unfortunately the AFCA is collapsing under its own weight.

2 things that come to mind is the cutting of Federal red tape and also the Corporate tax cut, as well as, bringing NAFTA and the Chinese back to the table.

Thanks for your answer. I hear those talking points about trump doing away with Obama regulations frequently - which ones specifically have done what you suggest? Clearly we want American companies to stay here - particularly their operations which are way more important than their corporate headquarters. Seems like the trump tariffs have several companies shipping jobs back overseas of late. Just got my completed taxes back - and there were little to no savings for my business from the previous year despite the incredible tax cut. My CPA said that was due to my business not being “big enough” (we did 4.8M in sales last year) to have the really good parts of the tax cut kick in.

I can’t talk intelligently about the green new deal and perhaps it is an overreach but, why are we investing more and more money into finite energy sources - the usage of which, only exacerbate the climate problem?

As for the immigration issue, like many of trump’s talking points, it is simply a distraction. There is no doubt that fixes are needed and we should be able to control our borders however the notion that illegal immigrants are taking jobs that Americans want is simply foolish. It’s no wonder why economists - particularly conservative republican ones - indicate that trump’s plan on immigration would have a dramatically worse impact on the US economy than even doing nothing.

Obama isn’t POTUS anymore - so debating what he did or didn’t do really isn’t germane.

The money in question was paid to the US for military equipment when it was an ally, prior to the Iranians taking Americans hostages in 1979. That money was frozen and held as part of sanctions imposed on Iran. Yes, the frozen funds were part of the nuclear deal, a deal, by the way, the Iranians are still complying with with Germany, France, England, Russia, And China. But in the end, it was Irans money, nothing came out of the US treasury, and it was repaid in foreign currencies, not dollars.

Ok - moving from the rhetoric - what do you know specifically about the green new deal that has you barfing? Focusing on the messenger rather than message is easy - particularly when the messenger is being scapegoated.

I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t be able to find any Democrat who says “let’s import oil” - the reason being, that the consumption of oil pollutes and harms the environment via climate change. Illegals haven’t ruined anything - they don’t hire themselves. My company doesn’t hire individuals that are illegal from any country because it is (wait for it) illegal.

The Mexicans are doing it for $1.25 per sf for ceramic and $3.00 per sf for marble. They have ruined that industry and by ruining that industry they have helped erode the tax base in that area. I guess that's IK with you though since you are arguing with talking points.

In regards to the new green deal it is not realistic because the cost is way to high. Cortez thinks she can solve problems just by raising taxes it is hard to believe she graduated from Boston University with a degree in economics. Every time she opens her mouth she shows how dumb she is. Remember when she said that the only reason unemployment was so low was because to many people were working 2 jobs?

In regards to climate change too many people are getting their information from talking points. Believe it or not there is plenty of information out there on the subject that comes from people other than politicians. I remember when they called it global warming but then "climate gate" back in 2007 blew that out of the water and they switched to climate change. Like I said earlier we have had climate change for 4.5 billion years now way before man.

We have had 5 ice ages and we will have more and I think it is funny when they show the glaciers melting and they say global warming. Earth in its normal stage has no ice so ice melting is normal. I am all for the environment but quit using the sky is falling scenario. Now the democrats say we only have 12 years left to do something or it will be to late.

I don't get my information from talking points I actually read a variety material that counterpoints to every argument including mine. If you want to read about the climate I suggest you read Weather: An Illustrated History. The reason I think it has more to do with moving money around is because there is no rhyme or reason to do the things they are doing.

It’s a like trump scapegoating Mexico for the amount of drugs that make their way into America. If they’re weren’t so many drug consumers in the US - they’re wouldn’t be so many drugs.

The problem is the Mexicans are selling pAckets of heroine for the price if a six pack of beer. This gets them hooked and they begin a life of drugs. The Chinese are loading our country up with enough fentanly to kill 57 Americans at this point and they still trying to up that.

It's a shame that people don't see that this is a problem that could cripple us in the future. Instead they are focused on the problems of people from other countries. We don't want to become Russia who is in a major population decline right now. Their population is at 140 million and is declining rapidly.

If things don't change by 2025 their population will dip under 100 million. Along with a declining population they will have a declining economy and then they become past history. Their problem is caused by more than the breakup of the Soviet Union. They have a large drug culture, alcohol problem, high rate of aids and tuberculosis. Because of their drug and alcohol problem they say that 70% of the children born in Russia today will never be productive members of society.

Is this what we want for our country? I hear many complain about leaving our kids with a burdensome national debt. I worry more about the drugs pouring over our southern border.

I get that it’s easier (which is why trump does it) to say all of our problems are the result of someone else’s actions but at some point I think we have to start pointing the finger in the right direction rather than scapegoating others.
