Will Jefferson be able to hold down the 5 next season equivalent to Bolden? I know Bolden is more of a true 5 but does he make a substantial difference to winning a NT compared to Jefferson?

I'm for some reason really nervous about next year team being incomplete if we don't have a true 5. So Im hoping that Jefferson/Jeter can hold it down.

I really really really want Bolden to commit to Duke.
However, I am MUCH more worried about how Marshall Plumlee/ Chase Jeter will be playing the 5 position on Thursday night.

Did I mention, I really really want Bolden though........

Would be nice to have a center that you could dump the ball down to him in the low post and let him score or get fouled. Okafor spoiled me last year.

If Jeter continues to improve, problem solved.

I know what you mean but that is my concern, a lot of "if" when it comes to the 5 spot. Adding Bolden would solidify that spot and add security to the belief that we will be a complete team. We don't have to have a low post scorer because scoring wont be a problem next year, I just hope we could have someone in the 5 spot who could hold their own against a low post scorer/rebounding etc........

My theory..we dont HAVE TO HAVE Bolden, like say the 2015 team needed Okafor in order to be a complete team.

However, us landing Bolden, means UK will not get him. And I believe us and them will be the top 2 teams next year, so them NOT landing him seems more vital then us landing him, make sense????

Not to mention, us landing Bolden could give us the deepest front court I have ever seen Duke have!!! Pretty ironic, considering the lack of bodies on this year's front court.

I am on board with getting Bolden but he is worried about playing time. I wish Coach K would consider playing 8-10 players a game instead of 7. With Giles and Jefferson coming off an injury I would limit them to 20-25 mins a game and if Duke landed Bolden I would give him 25 minutes and Jeter would get the remaining few. If Bolden commits Coach K would have enough talent to run 10 players on the court any given game but the question is, "will he".

Duke and Kentucky will be 1 and 2 next year and there is a real possibility of them meeting in the National Championship game and I would hate to lose out on Bolden and he be a factor in deciding the game.

I always feel like the biggest jump in performance is between the end of the freshman year and the beginning of the sophomore year. With that said....I like how Jeter is trending and no doubt Amile will play a key role somewhere next year. I think even without Bolden.....we can win it all next year. To me....having a post guy back whose played a key role in a national championship run is really a valuable thing.

You still don't think he comes to Duke if Kentucky gets Thon Maker and or Jarrett Allen? I think if Kentucky gets one or both of those players then Bolden would come to Duke.
Thon Maker probably going to go to Arizona State and I believe Texas and Houston are the favorites to land Allen.

I agree with what you are saying but why can't we have both? A combination of Bolden Giles Jefferson and Jeter would be a great front line and would give us depth and quality players to start and come off the bench. Can you imagine just how good Duke can be next year if Allen stays and Bolden comes? That team would be nasty and would definitely be a front runner for the NATY in 2017.

I'm fine with having both....it just seems that with the way K generally goes with a short rotation that someone whose a really talented kid may get left out which might send a bad message to future recruits. I have not seen Bolden and don't really follow recruiting that closely....is he a definite one and done player. If so, that's a little easier, if not...aren't there a couple 5's in the next class that we are already heavily involved with?

Bamba and Carter, both prospects I think are better than Bolden but are of course a class year below him

Who are these massive bigs that some combination of Jeter/Amile/Giles/Obi/Vrank can't contain? Did Shaq's son commit to NC State? Are Meeks and Maye going to put back on their high school weight?

If Draymond Green is an NBA all-star center, then Duke can find a way to get production out of the 5 spot with those ^ guys.

We are gonna be fine next year with or without Bolden. I'm okay with Jefferson/Jeter holding down the five spot. Neither will need to score much. Just rebound and play D. We are going to have so many playmakers. It's gonna be a fun one next year. But this one ain't over yet.

I'll think about next season in April. We don't even know who we'll have. True centers help, but aren't a requirement to win it all. Amile and Chase are plenty at the 5. They will handle all defensive and rebounding tasks given the help side will be from super athletic, long forwards: Giles, Tatum and D-Law. I expect Chase to be soooooo much better.

Didn't we just have a thread talking about this for three pages??

Yep we did. I guess we just need to come up with some new original threads like who are your favorite starting 5 Duke players or who are the best 5 Duke players ever or who is the next Duke basketball coach once the G.O.AT. retires or what Duke player deserves to have his # retired that hasn't been already or who is the better DI poster skysdad or ponarkel ;) ? Well I don't think even dukiejay has connections with Coach K. I'm thinking more in the lines of that national BB guru Gary-7. OFC

Haha I was hoping to trick some newbies into seeing dukiejay as even more wise.. And if Gary is the source we know it's true!

It's to my understanding that even the top notch BB guys in sports are following Gary-7. Sources say that Gary knew Jamie Dixon was going to TCU before he took he Pitt job several years ago. He was ask to keep it quiet until after Pitt's last game of the 2015-16 season. There's no telling what Gary knows that he's been sworn to secrecy. OFC

So does Gary know who will replace Roy?!

I don't know. Gary doesn't talk to me. I'm just a peon in his world but if I had to bet on it he knows. We all know that the leader for the job is Hubert Davis but there are a couple of dark horses one being 32 year old Wes Miller who at UNC-G in his 5th year has led the Spartans to a 60-91 won loss record but 9 of those losses were caused by poor officiating and there's 36 year old Jason Capel whose 4 year won loss record was 53-70 with the 70 losses aided by poor officiating. What's interesting about Capel is he may have the inside track on the job if his brother Jeff ends up replacing Coach K. Speculation is that Jeff will not interfere with top notch players that Jason is recruiting simply to keep it from causing conflicts at Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings at Paw Paw and Maw Maw's house. And don't forget Scott Cherry who actually has a winning record despite poor officiating. Now I stated that Gary doesn't talk to me but that doesn't mean that he doesn't talk to people who does talk to me. OFC

We're not getting Bolden, but I feel that Chase will make a significant jump next year. We will be just fine w/ or w/o Bolden.

I think we'll be fine with a 23 year old Amile and Chase/Semi backing him up. I'm more concerned with DTs development and Grayson coming back. We won't win a national championship without good point guard play. That's the key to next season.

Bolden isn't coming to Duke.
You should ping Evan Daniels and let him know Duke has no shot.

“I think Marques will make a decision probably in the next two or three weeks,” said Scout.com national recruiting analyst Evan Daniels, whose site ranks Bolden the 12th-best overall player in this class. “Kentucky and Duke are two schools at the top of the list. I think they’re neck and neck. At this stage, I don’t know if I see another school having a real good shot at getting him. He’s kind of weighing the pros and cons with those two schools, and I think he changes his mind every other day on which school may be the best fit for him.”

Tweet this evening: 5 star center @MarquesB__ tells Dallas Morning News he will make a decision by April 17th and his 3 final schools are Duke,Kentucky, and TCU
