Defensive lock down lineup:

Aberdeen(6’5)
Oweh(6’4)
Williams(6’8)
Dioubate(6’7- with 7’+ wingspan)
Quaintance(6’10)

That length would be hard to score on. All those guys but Williams have played big time college basketball (SEC and Big 12) and Williams is known as a defensive stopper. I think that’s the best defensive lineup we could put out there. I’m not real sure about Lowe’s defense, playing in the ACC the past few seasons, with the ACC being down. The ACC wasn’t much better than the AAC this past season.

Wouldn’t mind that being the starters by the end of the year. That lineup will steal your lunch and make you pay for the company

We may not be running the literal platoons like 2015 but it might be closer to than than a typical rotation. Pope seems to have intentionally built a team with two starting lineups

I think JQ’s limit is going to be a little over 20 minutes a game, even when he gets back 100%.

I feel like BG is going to expect his minutes to increase to 20+ a game being the only returnee in the frontcourt.

Dioubate didn’t leave Bama to play less minutes than he played there (around 16 minutes). Being a seasoned SEC veteran, he will probably expect 20+ a game.

I think AJ will be the most limited, having to adjust to American style play and the physicality of the SEC.

That’s why I have the rotation looking that way.

Now if JQ is limited all year, AJ might play some more out of necessity.

Until JQ is able to take the floor, AJ might be forced to play a little more than he would normally.

Fingers crossed that JQ recovers quickly and can give us 20+ minutes a game. That takes us to another level, when we add a 100% recovered JQ.

Only thing is Lowe gives us a little more scoring with him in there. I think he starts with Williams coming off the bench.

And like I said earlier, I think Pope might pair MD and BG together and AJ and JQ together to make sure we have a good frontcourt defender in at all times. If that’s the case BG might start with JQ coming in as sixth man. Pope has no problem bringing his best player off the bench.

Pope moved on from Folgueiras because he didn’t think he had the athleticism required for the sec . Evidently Tennessee felt the same way. There’s a reason Folgueiras ended up at Iowa .

That may be true, and I'm sure you heard/read that from someone supposedly in the know or you wouldn't have said it. If so, fine. I'm in no position to argue with Pope and the professionals. But unless it was from a good source that Pope didn't think Folgueiras was good enough or athletic enough to play at UK, then I'm going to continue to assume that it was due to other reasons - whether Pope's of Folgueiras'. Because I thought Folgueiras was one of the best 4 or 5 PFs available due to his combination of offensive skills, including passing, and rebounding (and he also had good length and the ability to block shots). Other than Yaxel Lendeborg I really didn't see anybody available who I thought was clearly better - and that definitely includes Caleb Wilson. For example, I believe that Rasheer Fleming and Collin Murray-Boyles are staying in the draft, and maybe Lendeborg too and JT Toppin only came back due to a reported insane price. But I figure I'll see with Folgueiras soon enough next season - at least from a playing ability standpoint - because if he can play in the Big Ten he could have played in the SEC just fine.

Folgueiras was the guy I wanted at at the 4 spot also (after Yaxel). But I can’t tell that much from highlight tapes . They all look pretty great,lol.

For me, that dunk wasn’t super impressive because it was basically wide, which leads to the part that was more impressive.

The quick jab step and move for a guy 6’11 & 220+ lbs WAS impressive.

So, while it appears he won’t provide the post presence Carr could, he looks to have a significantly quicker first step and maybe better ball handling than Carr. So, I’m thinking he should add a little more on the perimeter than Carr did.
