In 105 I did hear a few boos that were met with fans booing the booer! It was nothing and for Carino to imply audible frustration from the fans diminishing the teams confidence… well it makes him sound like a simpleton. Any portrayal by a journalist using last night’s game as an example of turning on a team smacks of incompetence.

I’ve alwYs said this about little Jerry, he’s not a bad guy but he is definitely a shu nerd. I used to watch an early version of a podcast he did with Hank Frezza to preview CJ (yes CJ) HS football, and he was unwatchingly embarrassing wearing costumes, squeezing a clown horn, giggling like a Middle school girl and basically playing butt goblin to Frezza. I used to think this drama club drop out is evaluating sports that men play 😬.

Like I said not a bad guy, I talked with him a few times. But someone I don’t look to for athletic insight. He’s OK at best

Boo Jerry.

He's had me blocked on twitter since 2019 when I stated (factually I might add) that Myles Powell 100,000,000,000% faked a concussion vs Rutgers to save face on the absolute *** whooping RU put on them.

With that said, a lot of people think it's like taboo for beat writers to read these boards. I couldn't disagree more. It'd be a dereliction of their duty as a writer to not read this boards. These boards show what fans are interested in
You really won't quit the Powell conspiracy 🤣

I don’t agree with booing college athletes, for the most part .
When we beat Indiana in the 2021 BIG tournament their fans were booing them and they are considered some of the greatest in sports

I haven't seen anyone but carino say fans were booing the team, only Hunter

Is there anyone that was there that agrees with him? Actually curious no rhetorical
If anyone booed it was a handful of fans. Not that I heard a single one.

There were definitely a lot of groans and exasperation. Especially at the free throws and a couple of those passes

It's a shame because the RAC was as hyped as I've seen it in recent years those first 5-10 minutes. I know you were at the Indiana game, it was better than that

Yeah simple silly things like an aviators hat, goggles, Hawaiian shirts, pretty lame overall. It was a cable tv thing… don’t remember the channel … it was about 10 years ago

Let’s see if Carino holds Holloway and team to be better given ending of getting their asses kicked at home by over 20 (were down by 30) vs Xavier.

Some scrub Sanders tried to steal ball as about tried to run out clock with under 2 seconds left.

I get that they can only win by grinding and trying to intimidate and play physical, but be better.

Doubt the Smurf shill will.

Ever watch the sportswriters at a game? Most of the time their heads are in their laptops working on their game story while the game is unfolding, not watching the court, certainly during a time out when Hunter Dickinson and some other Michigan player were egging on the fans after a run and "boos" were briefly showered on MICHIGAN PLAYERS.

There were 8,000 fans in the building, "showering of boos" is certainly not a few people who had a couple of those 24 ounce beers they now sell at the RAC, if there were indeed any.

Looking forward to Jerry's scathing takedown article of the Seton Hall fanbase tonight:

I have always liked and respected Jerry but I think he was off base this time. I have only missed 4 home games at the RAC since it opened in 1977. I didn't see or hear anyone booing near me. I know many were disappointed but I think he overreacted this time. All teams have bad games. Seton Hall showed that tonight for sure.

Hes mentally weak. Blocking fans of a team you cover is soft

He said some really bizarre stuff , non- hoops related, in 2020

I think he’s a good basketball writer and a hoops “junkie”. But remember he’s not a fan so he has a different perspective.

I’m not defending Carino, but did anyone stay until the end of the game? (I left with 2 minutes left.) If there ever was going to be booing, I’d imagine it be around the final buzzer and maybe some drunk idiots.

I agree overall though. We tried our damnest to get them into the game.
Yeah I was there until the bitter end. No booing for sure. Dickinson def got booed after his theatrics after he hit a 3 and I think we called timeout. Jerry probably was mistaken about where the booing was directed.

Jerry is a terrific writer and basketball junkie ! Don’t know what boos he heard but I did not hear any towards Rutgers players.
I have a feeling you’re spot on that Jerry heard boos towards Michigan or Dickinson and Jerry misconstrued who the boos were directed to.
I stayed to the bitter ends as well as I always do.

Watching on TV I thought I heard boos after one of our back to back FT misses when it we were like 3-14 on foul shots. I actually made a mental note of it as I’ve never heard boos at an RU basketball game against our team.

Maybe people were booing something else?

well I wasn't booing but I was screaming like crazy at them a few times. Gee sorry Jerry. Didn't think you or the team or the coach could hear me from down here in South Carolina.

PS. Who is this Kyda moron?

What an absolutely disgusting article Jerry Carino wrote trying to focus blame on the fans after last nights loss. I was at the game and the crowd was awesome last night, there is nothing else anybody in the crowd could do to help the team not play as uninspired as they did. McConnell, Hyatt, Cliff, and Mulcahy are all older or the same age as 4 players on the Knicks they aren’t soft little children they can handle being booed after bad performance so trying to paint a narrative that our fan base was in the wrong for being upset is embarrassing for Carino

While I don’t agree with Carino calling our players soft is weak for a 62 year old man or woman whatever you may be.

Think most fans were exasperated but the idea that RU fans were booing only existed in a crappy journalist’s mind.

you are both wrong LOL...he doubled down and said he knows the difference between booing the opponent/ref and the team.

Terrific!? In what world? Always waiting to pounce on RU. A hack. Schiano argument was a fraud. This booing article a fraud.
Too bad spins where he missed the boat completely.

I can guarantee no Rutgers Basketball fans of late would boo the team. But I am 100% certain folks would be screaming and yelling WTF and getting really upset with the stupid plays and foul shots during that game. And GET OVER IT. It wouldn't have been directed at ANY SINGLE player and would have just represented a justified state of being upset with a terrible effort and execution in a HUGE home game. And people need to stop acting like we're some long time ago eastern 8 team vs. prime time B1G potential top 25 team.
So much is expected of the fans. Well so much should be expected of the team. And expressing some level of frustration isn't world news. Stop the BS.
We can both Love the team and get pissed when they play like crap. If it so it would have been clear on the broadcast and noted by the announcers. Neither happened.
I've been to HUNDREDS of Rutgers football and basketball games. HUNDREDS! Like over 500! Hey Jerry. STFU.

A SHU homer and a hack.

Bye bye Jerry.
