University of MN coach Jerry Kill (and Edgy Tim look alike) announces immediate retirement due to health issues

I wish him well sorry to see health issues sideline a very good coach.

Yeah sad day for sure lots of good Jerry stories I have over the years as well....just hoping he's going to be able to just enjoy life now and get out of the public spot life a bit

Real sad and a tough decision but in the end it's the right one. Was super tough watching him struggle with his health on the sidelines. Best wishes to one of the classiest people in coaching.

Best wishes to the Coach.
I always thought it was a big mistake that U of I never lured him to Urbana.

Wow, that's a shame. Hopefully it turns out better for without the pressures of coaching.

Not surprising given his history, he has done a good job revert where he has been especially at Minn with all the off the field issues he had to deal with.

Has there ever been a year in college football where there were this many head coaching positions open by mid-year?

Just wonder if like Urban Meyer, whom took some time off, if Coach K could ever recover enough to come back? Would love to see that happen!

I don't intend this as mean spirited toward Urban Meyer. But, some suggest that he was sick of being beat by 'Bama.

Coach Kill clearly has a physical illness.

It's really not fair to compare Coach Kill to Urban Meyer. Coach Kill's health issues go all the way back to SIU, he coached through them for years, and I suspect he just couldn't risk it any longer. It's sad, he's an outstanding coach. Without his health risk, I always wondered how high he could've climbed.
