I heard a radio discussion a few days ago about strength and conditioning staffs at major schools. The coaches involved in the discussion all agreed that after the coordinators, the S+C people were the most important people on staff.

OU has the reputation and resources to find great replacements but be careful what you wish for.

He's done a fantastic job a OU and much of the program's success is due to his leadership not only as S&C coach, but as the "off-season" coach who has daily contact with the players.

After nearly 20 years at OU (and Notre Dame before that), he's easily one of the best in the business and it's not surprising Jumbo Fisher and A&M came calling. As Firecracker Farts stated, A&M has a lot of money, facilities and resources to offer him so that the Aggies can compete in the SEC. He'll be hard to replace.

Best of luck to him in Collie Station.

I'm going to enjoy watching Aggie spin this one though. You know... the SEC SEC thing about big boy football and all. Yet here they are hiring a S&C coach from the finesse conference of the Big 12. LR gets to name is own S&C guy now.

Mike Stoops is next!

He's going to be extremely hard to replace. He has pretty much been left to run the show, he's that well respected. Riley hasn't been directly involved or even Stoops for that matter. He's ran the show for so long the coaches, just leave him alone and let him run his department. So I'm not sure who can oversee and actually know if they're getting the results.

Remember the Strength coach is the only one to have daily contact, during the off season. He is considered one of the best in the business. Tough, tough loss.

Not so sure 808... OU has some brand new great facilities, a new HC / era, and some solid recruiting classes to work with. This job is going to attract a lot of attention and prospective candidates IMO.

The sec fans spun it when aggie and misery joined the sec. All of a sudden aggie was a big time program with johnny punk and misery was winning the eastern division. They were doing that with big 12 players, now look at them with all their sec studs ha ha ha. A patch on a jersey does not make you a Top Tier Program.

He's going to regret that move, IMO...heard that Jumbo (love that Schoonerman) is a pain in the a$$ to work for...

Please don’t take this as me leaning on new the Aggie train, but when a school willingly opens up the checkbook AND successfully hires great coaches capable of working together at a institution with facilities like A&M has, they will begin getting recruits that can be coached up to win as long as the head coach is the right coach. IMO, Jimbo Fisher is the weakest link. But I bet they will become better over the next few years.

They will be... as always... a 8-4 team and only if they play weak out of conference games. A good year will be 9-3. They are Aggies. It's painful & ugly, but they don't even know it.

Saban is staring at #7 next year if that Tago guy doesn't have a sophomore slump. At 67 with then the most titles of any coach in history (and unlikely to be broken in our lifetimes), I'd guess that the Aggies won't be Saban's ***** much longer.

It’s going to be a chore replacing Saban. Tough job to follow him and the Tide fans aren’t apt to be happy. I look for a big Bama drop off within three years of Saban’s retirement. Don’t expect Nick to find his replacement like Bob did.

I agree. With Saban on the backside of his career, the time is right for Aggie to make a huge move. They are attempting to buy a Title. In 3 yrs, Saban might be gone and Fisher might be settling into coaching a team that has ALL of his players being recruited by him and his staff.

But Aggie will be Aggie when it's all said & done.

Do you think Saban will really be satisfied with 7 titles? IMO if his new QB continues to win and the Tide continues to roll Saban will ride that train til the end. I really think Saban would rather put some distance between himself and Bear Bryant. 10 titles has a much better sound than 7.
