So if he transfers and turns out like Semi will you revisit your post and be like many I've seen and ask what could have been?
Name any post player Duke has had since Jah, that's has been outstanding. To me the only big that separated from the rest on the team was Amile. Jeter was a year younger coming into Duke and looked no different then a lotto pick Giles.
Duke didn't use not one big in their offensive plan at all
I will absolutely revisit my post and say damn I was wrong. As of right now though, Jeter has been far from good. So I'll stand by it...
I know we haven't had many good bigs which concerns me when it comes down to recruiting - it seems like our bigs either A) Under perform / don't develop correctlly or B) ride the pine 90% of the season. I'm surprised but insanely thrilled we landed Carter. I hope i eat my words over Jeter and he shines wherever he goes, i genuinely liked the kid, just thought he wasn't a good basketball player.

This isn't directed at you because I know you're not saying it....

....but wouldn't it be ironic if it was because of Wojo (and I don't think it is)? So many on this board wanted him gone when he was the big man coach.

I remember that very well. Just glad I don't remember who said it. OFC

Jeter will not be close to semi lol he will never even be mentioned again. ..btw he was nowhere near the player Giles was this year wow ...and that's not saying much ...I wish him the best but it doesn't bother me 1 bit..laughing. At some saying Jeter will play

Some Duke poster mentioned that Duke could lose 6-8 players this year. Cal at UK also said 8 leaving UK. That's the entire rotation for both schools. Oh the evils of signing so many 5*s..Whatever happened to recruiting your needs?

On the bright side, if you (we) lose 8, there won't be 8 OADs signed to replace them. Some will return for a second year,,(or transfer).

Dukes bigs are slow at developing, that is not even debatable. No surprise that Jeter is transferring. Quite a few posters say he's not that good. Who recruited him? I wish him the best

So he didn't help at all this year? He didn't play good leading up to and during the KU game? I'm laughing at your comment because Semi looked just like Jeter what time he saw on the court at Duke and never got a chance to start for Duke like Jeter did.
If I recall when Duke went small upon Tatums return it was said because that line up gave us the best chance at winning. I mean Giles got the nod to start this season too and oh wait he went right back to the bench.
You might be laughing at Jeter playing but he will.

Just curious.. if he planned on transferring, would it have not been smarter to just go ahead and do it right after his injury during this season? So he could play for his new team at some point next year, instead of having to sit out the whole year? Or am I missing something..

He would have needed to do it before Christmas break and the half way point of the season. I think he also wants to finish up his year that's why it said the end of the semister.
I think the idea is to take a whole year off and work on his weaknesses at this level of play.

Shey- I don't want this to come off as me coming at you, supporting "lol boy", or more importantly bashing Chase, but come on- you're really sensationalizing Chases contributions this year, even early on. The guys hands were awful, he routinely brought them ball down to where smaller guards could swipe it away and for someone with his athleticism and length got blocked by smaller players a lot- reminded me of a longer josh Hairston. He had a couple nice moments here and there where you'd hoped he would maybe turn the corner but clearly he never felt confident or comfortable out there. Now if you want to blame that on the staff that is one thing, but you can't blame the staff and then also say he played well. It's one or the other. He didn't maximize his opportunities this year or last and then got hurt.

Additionally comparing him to semi is disingenuous. They're two completely different players, both in what they can do on the court and where they're confidence levels were or are. Keep in mind Semi sat out 1.5 years. Semi didn't lack confidence as much as he had no basketball IQ. He just stood outside the three point line and jacked up shots even though he was a physical specimen. It took 1.5 years and leaving to realize he should be doing more.

Look I wish chase the best, kid was a great teammate, always cheering on the bench and was a great student. I hope he does great wherever he goes. The spotlight won't be as bright and he can just play ball- something that's not always easy to do at Duke.

No my point was saying the kid didn't do anything is simply off. I didn't compare his playing style or anything just their presents looked the same on the court when they got time. But just like Semi a year off and change of scenery just might be what the kid needs just like Semi having to understand he just couldn't jack up threes he had the body to play in the post and needed to use that to open up his permiter shot. Some say that's what the staff was trying to get Semi to realize but it took hearing it from another coach and reshaping his game to become the player he was this season.
There were rumors last season about Jeter wanting to transfer he stuck it out one more season and realized it was best suited for him to move on. I just don't see how anyone can say anything bad about a big playing soft or not that good when Dukes offense is centered around guards and their bigs are meant to set screens, rebound and get garbage points on put backs or the occasional lob.
Can't no one say that is the recruiting pitch to them when they talk to the coaches.

No clue but I'll go with Luke.

Not a bad call. Luke's a safe bet. But don't underestimate Marques. Thinkin' that kid could surprise some people. Edge out the upper-classman and announce first. We'll see.

I'm thinking Giles before Luke and Allen.

With Jeter gone if Duke was trying to sway Bam I think him hearing he would be the primary big next to Carter would go along way and Giles announcing would go a long way towards that.
Or Giles returning would be a surprise

He hasn't shown much confidence but there's always been this appearance to me that certain players, mostly Bigs, are on a very short leash. Lots of people see that but I hope he plays well wherever he goes. Looks like he made a bad college choice initially

Bolden is the biggest head scratcher to me. Prior to the injury he looked good, afterwards he did not. His motor and demeanor are questionable
Bingo. Young man has body language that makes me wanna scream, and I'm not trying to be a tough cookie but honestly I've wanted Bolden to prove me wrong on my thoughts that he just flat out doesn't really care (which were set in motion when he announced his college destination as "the university of duke". That rubbed me all sorts of the wrong way and I've been tough on him, in regards to how I feel about him, since that happened.

There's always some dark before the dawn. It's getting ready to look real dark, but hang on that dawn is gonna be BRIGHT. :D

I've been gone for a while. Sorry about that to those I didn't piss off and we're happy to see me gone . It's been a crazy year and a half. We're (my family) still just getting back to normal.

I've been thinking about you all and this board and saw this post from Show and thought it was a perfect post to quote and support for my first post back in a while. I agree 100%! I remember some dark times when the sky was falling in 2009 and 2014. It got better. Be patient...

I hope everyone has been well! I've been keeping up with the team as much as possible but not near what I use to. I still watch most every game, but dont have the extra time I used to.

@OldasdirtDevil i no longer use the email we were communicating on. Sorry if you emailed. I switched jobs on a whim to get closer to my wife's surgeons in Portland. I meant to send you an email. I hope you're doing well!

To all the other regulars I used to communicate with: "Hello. Missed ya'll! I hope to post more often."

Good to hear from you, FTB! I was a little worried about you, and your wife. Back a month or two ago some posters wondered where you were, and I told them I hadn't heard from you in awhile (and I had emailed), so I emailed again and you didn't respond. Knowing where you worked I checked out the website, and it didn't show your name as an employee (and your email was an official work email), so I was pretty sure you had found new employment. I thought about 'hunting' you down:D online, but I cherish my privacy so I didn't go that route. It was my hope that it had to do with your wife's recovery...and it was. Anyway, I'm glad to see you're okay, your wife is doing better, and hopefully those dancin' dogs are doing okay too!

And yes, as you and your family can attest, there are far worse things than losing a damn ballgame, no matter how much we love our Blue Devils. Duke will return.

Welcome back, hope to hear more from you. And GTHC, GTH!

Oh, and good luck to Chase Jeter, and thanks for the two years of being a Blue Devil. Wish he had remained at Duke, but I understand he has to do what he thinks best for himself, and his family.

Good to hear from you FTB. Welcome back. I agree with your point about 2009 & 2014 and both of those years have something in common because we won titles the next season. It was a rough and tough season but as long as we have Coach K then we just have to be patient and keep faith him.

Glad to hear from you!! Sorry about that with the email. It was a crazy time! We've moved 4 times in the past 1.5 years. This is the first time I've unpacked all our stuff since before the accident (we were in the process of moving when the accident happened).

My wife still watches that video you made of the dogs!! She goes on the caring bridge site from time to time for inspiration and always watches that video. We are forever grateful for what you did! For those that don't know, ODD used his computer skills that we all love to make a personal video for my wife while she was in the hospital. He brought joy during the darkest time of my wife's life! My life too!

How are you, ODD? you doing ok? I'll try to figure out a way to PM you my email address. It's been a while and the site looks a little different since I posted last. And I would never have a problem with you tracking me down, but I understand why you didn't. I remember the story of the UNC fans leaving signs for you, so I understand your privacy stance.

We'll reconnect soon! I have a friend currently at Duke law and I'm going to try to visit her (maybe catch a game at Cameron while I'm there :D ). We're grabbing a beer when I do!
