Anybody hear that the Jett Elad Court case vs. the NCAA has been pushed back 2 weeks to April 16th ? Any thoughts on why?

Are there ever any Rutgers-affiliated administrators and NJ natives on any of the NCAA organizations and decisions-makers and review boards and tournament selection committees? We are small-timers on the national stage.

Legendary lacrosse coach Tom Hayes used to sit on a number of boards and committees during his career. He was one of the few that I am aware of.

Isn't this the same issue that the QB from Vanderbilt sued the NCAA over?
I believe that Jett is challenging the 5 year NCAA rule. He is basically saying his one year playing at the Community College level should not count against his NCAA eligibility { FWIW I agree }. He is basing his appeal on the exact same situation that was given to his UNLV QB. He got the waiver from the NCAA as should Jett.

Impossible.
It's only the "greedy players" trying to ruin college atheltics.
A beloved HC like Schiano can't support this.
Doesn't Schiano know that college atheltics is supposed to be 4 years between the ages 18-22 and that's it!

Why is he trying to ruin college athletics?

JUCO, D1, D2, D3 are all fall under the NCAA and inter-collegiate athletics. Once you start either, the time available to compete starts ticking. JUCO shouldn't be excluded.

Well, the QB from Vandy called the NCAA on the JUCO part, and the NCAA folded. Now, the kid has the year back, and that is the same argument Elad is using.

Are you sure?

I thought JUCOs fall under NJCAA which is completely different from NCAA (same with the NAIA).

On the NCAA list of member institutions, there aren't any Junior Colleges listed.
Specifically, Garden City where Elad went.

I am not positive, just going on how things have transpired in the past. Two year JUCOs went to four year institutions and had two years left. If it didnt count, the four year institution would get four additional years no matter how many were spent in JUCO?

And the NCAA gave an exemption to Elad’s former teammate at UNLV (QB) which gave him the motivation to request the appeal. This should be approved without question.

I think that's the point of the lawsuits.
Just because it's historical "precedent" or "how its always been done" doesn't mean it's accurate.

If someone played college soccer in Canada for 2 years, then transfered to Rutgers - would they historically only get 2 years?

That wouldn't make sense either.

My brother is a Rutgers grad and was there the same time as the coach, and has the exact same name. He was once sent a preseason ballot to vote on the LAX top 25.

It should be, but because it's Rutgers there's a good chance it won't be.

Why is it that Brantley sits out a year and Elad has a formal court hearing yet all these other schools and players seem to automatically make their own rules to transfer and play immediately ???

Brantley got screwed because the school he transferred from Western Illinois refused to send his transcripts to the NCAA for him to be cleared to transfer & play

We have gotten screwed some many times by the NCAA { LB Jennings, etc.} …hopefully we win one for a change.
