Hire him. He'll be on a short leash of course, but somebody WILL hire him, make no mistake about it. He knows how to recruit and how to win.

He's had problems with the NCAA. Who cares. Calipari had and still has a perception of being slimy to anyone outside the Bluegrass, and we hired him. And let's face it, Barney has destroyed our football program to the point now where we can't even attract a good assistant coach, let alone a successful experienced one. So let's swing for the fence and let's get a winning program back.

I even have a good slogan for it:

Jim Tressel. Because nobody else decent wants the job.

Unfortunately Stoops isn't going anywhere until the end of 2017 and we all know it.

Look for a letter of support/confidence in Stoops from Mitch to the BBN this week.

This program will have to find a young up and coming coach from a small school looking for a pay raise, plus that is willing to take a chance at a bad program, or take a coach with some baggage. If not this program will always sucks.

I don't think he wants to coach any more.

No problem at all with Tressel's "baggage". He's a good guy, a class act. But he's in his mid 60's and, although he is a proven success, he did it a powerhouse. He would probably be another Rich Brooks here, which is fine, but that only stops the bleeding. To me, this would be like getting Phil Fulmer four years ago, who was right there for the taking.

When the patient is bleeding out, you must first stabilize him. Then and only then can you perform surgery.

There will be no new coach at UK next year. There's a $14M buyout if Stoops is fired after this year..It's not going to happen, nor should it. He was given 5 years to turn this program around. He should get 5 years..

That's denial, and as such is nonsense. Most people by now can see that there is no upward trend. You're going to find yourself alone in your opinion next season.

Tresselll is good man and a good coach. His baggage is failing to report payers for receiving tattoos and selling their own personal property. No recruiting violations, Loved by his ex players and the state of Ohio respected by everyone who knows him. VIlified by ESPN and national media for bulshit. Would be a definite upgrade for UK. Don't think he leaves Youngstown State.

but then we would have to wait 4 more years for him to get "his" guys... coach them up, and build them up, and if course strength training and stamina. Then you have to wait for the 5th year for his 5th year seniors to be fully developed and contribute. So really that's 6 years because the first recruiting class isn't really his either. So really, is it worth sucking for 6 more years or do you stay the course, and suck some more, with what you already have?

You know good coaches and proven coaches aren't coming here, right? Kentucky will always be forced to choose from someone else's trash, a coordinator or some mid-tier coach. That's how it goes.

But every year, we get posters saying "We should hire (insert NFL coach or national title winning coach here)."

I don't think Tressel would give us the time of day. The only way we'll ever get a really good football coach is if the donors make a power play for the hire like they did with Calipari.
