One of the all time great guitarist and rock musician died 45 years ago today. No one played like this before he came along and made the electric guitar the coolest musical instrument on earth.

If you have Showtime cable channel you should check out the documentary titled "Jimi Hendrix: Electric Church". Interviews and rare footage from the 1970 Atlanta Pop Festival. Outstanding!

Little sad this has sat up here all day and no one has commented.

I was born in 71 and discovered him sophomore year in high school. Jimi took me places with his playing that were novel and exciting. Miss that time of discovery.

His studio versions are probably better than most live recordings you can find but here's this:

Played in army bands at Fort Campbell. Baked up Little Richard on the Chitlin circuit.

A local band in the early 70's from Paducah call Majik played a lot of his music which they said was somewhere between Jimi and Robin Trower. Good stuff. Geezzz, different day and time. FCC

I played hey Joe at a tailgate party this past weekend.
Probably be talked about for generations, imo.
