Great news. DL and WR would seem to be the 2 spots we are targeting I would think. Maybe OT if one came available.

Sets up for another really good defensive year. While JJ has not been the edge rusher I hoped he be....he is adequate and if he can add more strength...he might be that double digit sacker we've missed since Josh Allen.

DT - Ox
NG - Walker
DE - Rybka

Jack - Weaver
WIll - Wallace
Mike - D Jackson
Sam - ???? (maybe Afari has a role here)

CB - Dre Philips
CB - JQ Hardaway
SS - Lovett
FS - Geiger/Childress

Pretty damn good unit and plenty of depth all over the place.

Dunn & Dru both get starter level of snaps.. With Nickel and dime packages, there is a lot of PT. DL is also a rotation so at least a two deep is needed. UK has that but Horsey and JJ are returning at thin positions so this is great news. Far better getting those two back than having to keep relying on the portal. Team is good on paper.

Have to figure Vito will figure in somewhere possibly that Sam/nickel position. Also not sure they'll kick Walker to NT to just take on double teams. Hes a more explosive athlete than other guys we've had there in the past.

Tend to agree with your assessment.

Many think Walker is a special talent. Coach White and the defensive staff need to move him around and design things so he is singled up more.

Who will replace Jordan Wright at SAM?

I saw someone mention Afari earlier, but he isn't a SAM. He's a nickel and when he comes in, the actual SAM comes out. The way they list this on the depth chart confuses a lot of people.

I’m thrilled from a completely selfish point of view. I’ve watched JJ play since middle school when my son and him played basketball together here in Louisville. It’s gonna be nice to see them both graduate from college…damn I’m getting old!!

Yeah that is sort of iffy Imo

Option 1 as a the traditional Sam is Noah Matthew, Godfrey as a true Fr gets a shot, and Fearby just needs to add size

Option 2 with a smaller body type…Afari and Vito is going to need to get on field. With the emergence of Lovett as a true deep safety and Childress/ Geiger back there as well. You have to get these two on field and they make plays near LOS

So I see options wjtb that roster

If we can fin someway to get Lovett, Childress, Vito and Afari on the field at the same time a lot I'm for it! Those guys are all super aggressive and playmakers.
