A non sequitur tangent but --- ChatGPT and similar generative AI tools are nothing but candy waved in front of the bottom 30% to make them feel relevant. Oh, and for middle school kids to cheat on busywork.

Remember that these models are trained on the dregs of the internet (Reddit etc).

If any of you are work at or own a company that utilizes generative AI for any professional work from the top 3 or so levels of the org chart, I'm genuinely curious to know if it actually provides any value.

Now, to comment on the actual topic -- I have no idea how NIL works, nor do I want to know, but if this means our ceiling of player is Otega effing Oweh until 2040, then this program is done. That is probably the most depressing thing I can think of -- having to watch someone like that "lead" the team every year.
Generative AI at this current juncture has zero unique information. Think of it more the less as a search engine that creates a sloppy package version of what it was able to obtain elsewhere. It can do some things really, really well. For example, let’s say you’re working through large datasets and you can’t remember the exact formulas for certain functions, it is an easy way to get that.

However, this is only the beginning. Very soon, AI will develop its own means for obtaining new intelligence, which is both exciting and terrifying:

It’s a good ole boy system making each other rich. They just sent their good friend and golden parachute contract holder stoops packing. The guy can travel the world the rest of his life. Barney fighting generational middle classness a different way.

Good points, we'll see. I'm skeptical on the level of dystopia that is being hyped. There's always a limit to learning capability and susceptibility to overtraining. We are going to have to safeguard some things better in society to prevent "AI Takeover", but if that means more people become smart about not posting their entire life on the internet publicly (or really any network with potential of infiltration), that's a good thing to me.

Yes, if used in the manner you mention, it can be a handy tool. TBQH I've been out of the technical end of my business long enough to not be great at it anymore, but if this were ~3 years ago, I'd probably use it same way as you.

Infographics is entertaining but very dramatic. Makes for a good watch but sometimes laughable. They had one thing "what happens if the earth stops spinning". Long story short, we die quickly. Even ChatGPT could manage to get that right.

You gotta keep in mind…software like Grok, ChatGPT and all of these are consumer side AI software. The AI being utilized internally on a B2B basis are much more powerful and are becoming much more of a concern. In fields like software IT and many in the tech field, AI is concerning already. It’s not doomsday, but its ability to use human language and immediately generate code (as well as many other everyday tasks) threaten jobs. Some of the work is still sloppy, but again, if you are specific and develop useful skills some of these consumer side AI software apps can help develop things more substantial too. You just gotta practice. It also can help if you ask AI for tips in how to better communicate to their software and get better results. You may not realize, for example, that your simple spaces between words could cause confusion if the software believes those words are “strings” intended for use in a spreadsheet.

I am a big AI hater (mainly for the jobs aspect that you alluded to) but the irony is that since the past year or so I've been positioning my group to take as much advantage of the AI boom as much as possible before the bubble bursts. Semicon market is nuts right now.

So I am not opposed to making money off something even if I am against it. Sounds like Oweh and me are not so different after all... (I promise, if he plays better and the team starts and stays winning, I will be the first one back on his sack).

I kind of have the view that you just kind of recognize reality and stare it in the cold, dead eyes. I do believe AI is going to tear down a lot of what some of us know as the “norm” but it will create its own opportunities on down the line for someone else. I don’t fear it. I just call it what it is. I like your idea —- make money off it while you can. You can’t stem the tide of human progress any more than Dutch and the van der Linde gang could fight off the fading of the Wild West into modern civilization (video game reference). It just is what it is.

The swim stuff is far outside my sphere of knowledge and will be handled by the appropriate authorities there.
We don’t live in KY. My son is playing small college baseball and he’s girlfriend is a D1 swimmer and could not care less about UK other than her supporting her boyfriend. BUT, she HATES Mitch Barnhart. The swim stuff she knows about and she just let us know 1 time the disgust she has for Barnhart and stays out of our discussions when he comes up. I had no idea about the swim stuff and she went into detail how she knew. I’m sure it’s one side but I dont bring up Barnhart in front of her.

ChatGTP isn’t something you want to base your argument entirely on. It’s better to use it for gathering intel then you yourself use. I use ChatGPT at my job to simply rewrite entries it saves time and makes good corrections. Something like this you wouldn’t want to base your final opinion on. Here’s what we know.

1. JMI is far smaller than Learfield and Playfly.
2. No other SEC team wanted JMI and rejected them. They’ve been trying to get flagship SEC programs and can’t.
3. Mitch Barnhart said yes to JMI.
4. There are red flags everywhere that this is a bad deal.
5. We’ve had a hard time recruiting. It’s true.
6. Media has hinted it’s an issue.
7. The Verbal whatever guy is a mole for JMI or the athletics department. He’s gaslighting all of you. Put him in ignore I’ve already done it. Can’t see any of his nonsense.

I can’t comment much on the other stuff. But I can vouch for Verbal here. Known them irl for a long time. One of the most loyal UK fans you could know and definitely not a JMI mole.

Not trying to be mean or rude or confrontational or anything. I got no issue with anyone here. Think we’re all just tired of losing. But i chuckle a little every time you say that.

Carry on.

Makes no sense. What would a UK fan or general alumni care this much about an issue that even our media heads believe is a problem, one of them is even a lawyer. The evidence is what it is, it’s probably causing an issue. So I have no idea why he seems to be influenced by what JMI is or isn’t, same for the athletic department. Seems to me and others to be more than just what you think he is. Seems like he’s got skin in the game. Otherwise it’s just weird.

“red flags”. Trust me bro. 🤡

JMI definitely isn’t in a joint venture media marketing venture with SEC school Georgia and Learfield. You people never make up lies. Kidding, that’s all you do.
