Got to the final round and JMI cost us. Where did they even come from? They seem to epitomize the corporate shill and private equity vibes.
Are you going to explain how exactly they cost us Collins?Got to the final round and JMI cost us. Where did they even come from? They seem to epitomize the corporate shill and private equity vibes.

Maybe by trying to force him to sign a contract with restrictions no other school in America is requiring? Just off the top of my head. Are you going to explain how exactly they cost us Collins?
people are removing their crystal ball picksLink? Source? Any context at all?
I don’t know why you’re having so much trouble with this. Are you just doing this because it sounds cool to take an alternate view because we can’t “technically” show you blind study on the matter? It’s been silently leaking for a while now. Or are you asking what his post means only? Because I keep seeing you do this. Are you going to explain how exactly they cost us Collins?
I tend to agree with you, the amount of whiffs is just weird at this point. Unless Pope locks the door and goes full Louis CK mode at the closing table...which idk if that would even surprise me nowI don’t know why you’re having so much trouble with this. Mark beat Duke, a slew of rivals, was the talk of college ball, won the most games against a rival in UK history, was talked about as having a system players love / modernized and great guy to play for. On he’s got the UK brand where even tubby for the #1 class while actively fighting against the AAU scene. And he can’t sign ANYONE with a pulse.
That’s not going to happen. It wouldn’t be THIS bad. He might not be an ace recruiter but even Billy G pulled 5 stars here while he was beating them. Mark couldn’t be THIS bad. It’s common sense.
He was and still probably will. Collins camp probably putting pressure on Uzk to get this contract done by saying he is opening up his recruitment . Sounds like they are working out contract details still. I think they will get it done and he will be a cat!The kids was never coming here.
Id give up both hair and erections for #9JMI also cost me the ability to maintain erections and made my hair fall out. Death to JMI!!!!!

If we haven't signed anybody by February I'd say Collins agent can pretty much get whatever he wants from us, provided JMI plays ball( not a sure thing)He was and still probably will. I agree with all that but the KSR article also was very critical of Pope's role in recruiting. It seems like a more multi-faceted problem than just "JMI is bad".There are many concerned people at UK who are convinced the contract is having a major impact. The media is swirling about it, Barnhart is defensive about it. The SCORE act did not pass, this is common sense there’s too much smoke. A few of these guys are flat out still listening to Mitch Barnhart while he covers himself for his retirement. Probably he same group that have said he’s a great AD for years. You don’t sign a 15 year deal like that assuming you know how the NIL is going to go and relying on congress to do their job. Barnhart gave us yet another wonderful contract.
It will come out soon you will have coaches players and agents continue to leak it like, again, like they already have lol.
I think it’s a combination but I don’t think Marks recruiting would be THIS bad. He’d at least pull some of these guys after last season especially. No way to whiff on everyone you’re after.I agree with all that but the KSR article also was very critical of Pope's role in recruiting. The strain is called Common Sense and provides a clear mind that reduces all anxiety and conspiracy theory thoughts.pass me the reefer you're smoking, pops
They put restrictions on your saluteJMI also cost me the ability to maintain erections and made my hair fall out. Death to JMI!!!!!
What restrictions are in place?JMI is going to have to restructure. They’re going to have to limit their restrictions. They are making a terrible name for themselves and as the little guy on the block who wants flagships to sign with them, their *** is on the line. Keeping UK from recruiting to normal levels isn’t how you get more of these programs to deal with you in the future.
Mitch, the ONLY AD in the entire conference who thought it best to go with JMI. The only one.
I believe it’s a bit of both…recruits see he’s in over his head, parents of recruits see he mopes after losses instead of showing some fire. We will have to hit rock bottom before there is a change and we get back to where we need to be.I believe that this falls on Pope and the staff.
Yeah, but what did JMI do? What are the restrictions that is causing us not to sign players?worth repeating what others pointed out:
JMI has to be playing a major role in us not getting any major players yet because even under Gillespie and Tubby's last years we still pulled in 5 star guys. This is Kentucky, and now you can pay players and we are striking out on everybody.
The name on the front of the jersey hasn’t meant much since the Joe B. Hall days and nothing at all since Cal as far as recruiting. Once Cal got his guys here, they felt the love and most bought in. But make no mistake, it was the name of the coach is what got them here.Whatever the issue is whether it's JMI, Pope, lack of a GM, etc. They better get their house in order quick. If UK isn't able to bring in top tier recruits then it's going to be a really tough to compete for SEC titles and NCAAT championships.
I don't think 'Kentucky' on the jersey means to recruits as much as it used to. Is it still a factor, maybe. Now it's more about how much money will you pay me and how many minutes will I get.

Nowadays it’s:
How much will you pay me.
How much will you play me.
And how will you get me to the NBA.
there will always be too many sunshine pumpers to do anything like this. they lower the standards for all of usWe all joke but the repercussions are just starting and it's going to seriously effect our beloved basketball program.
All of BBN should unite and demand the contract be voided or revised year to year based on performance. We are tax payers funding a public university and our voices/opinions matter.
Barnhart and the entire board of trustees/directors should be held accountable. You don't sign a long term deal (2040) without knowing if the partnership will be effective. It's gross negligence and proof of yet another egregious contract. The only reason you do this is out of ignorance or kickback money. Neither of which is acceptable.
The best I understand it, JMI is paying money upfront for the players to more or less sign over their NIL rights, then shopping them around to companies that already have partnerships with UK and JMI to do advertising work deemed to be appropriate for the value they signed for. This is probably closer to how NIL was supposed to ideally work, but the problem is that pretty much everyone else knows the NCAA is unlikely to be able to enforce such a structure in court and are using booster collectives to just throw cash at recruits for rather unspecified services while not asking them to enter much in the way of a binding contract. The losing control over being able to define their own “brand” seems to be a big sticking point for a lot of the top guys and their agents when we’re the only ones asking that.Yeah, but what did JMI do? What are the restrictions that is causing us not to sign players?
Either that OR pope really is that much worse than Gillispie or Tubby at recruiting...which is a possibility I haven't completely counted outworth repeating what others pointed out:

I think this is the nut of the JMI issue. Guys want to come in and say "I like Under Armour, I rep them, I want to do their commercials and that's a part of my brand now."The best I understand it, JMI is paying money upfront for the players to more or less sign over their NIL rights, then shopping them around to companies that already have partnerships with UK and JMI to do advertising work deemed to be appropriate for the value they signed for. Before anyone says that I can’t prove that, it’s true that this is based on anonymous sources. It’s the kind of story you’re going to have a hard time getting a player or agent to put their name to though, and the smoke matches what we’re observing that we’re having a puzzlingly hard time signing any recruits this cycle. I do think there’s probably something to it.

Athletes literally don’t even have to use JMI but have to sign their NIL rights over? Imagine pushing rumors to negatively recruit against your own program. The best I understand it, JMI is paying money upfront for the players to more or less sign over their NIL rights, then shopping them around to companies that already have partnerships with UK and JMI to do advertising work deemed to be appropriate for the value they signed for.
