He made the right choice. He's going to get drafted probably no later than the 2nd round and is getting to play behind a solid O line. Good for him. He would have helped us tremendously IMO. That one game he played a bunch for OSU in the 2nd half I thought he looked like the best QB on OSU's roster. I can understand why he left OSU. He got jobbed.

You can say he got jobbed, but Fields is pretty good too...

He left before Fields showed up didn't he? I think he left because of Haskins and personally I don't think Haskins is that good. I think Burrow makes better decisions under pressure and is a better pro prospect.

You may be right... I was thinking he left after spring ball this year, but the more I think about it, this is his second year at LSU... my bad.

He left before Fields go there. What sucks is he wanted to be a Husker, was a legacy a big time recruit (Mr. Football in Ohio) and we totally ignored him. Twice.

First Pelini, then Riley when he took over and then Frost when he transferred.:(

Another one of Pelini’s misread on a football recruit..

I genuinely don’t know, and am not trying to stick up for Frost. But after being left out by Pelini and then Riley, would he have come to Nebraska if Frost wanted him? Was he already burned badly enough that he was going elsewhere regardless... Frost didn’t recruit him as a grad transfer, correct? He went with the guy who had 4 years eligibility instead of 2?

You wrote just about what I was going to write. I don't know if we showed any interest in him as a transfer, but by that time, I doubt he would have had any interest in us. I really don't think Frost is really to blame here.

He was born a Husker, it's gotta hurt when the team you dreamed of playing for your entire childhood snubs you 3 times in 5 years. One of the bigger recruiting screw ups in the history of Husker football, but that's all we've done for 20 years. Best of luck to Burrow he's got a fan in me.

Shows Danny Langsdorf as his recruiter for Nebraska on his Rivals profile - that pretty much says everything that needs to be said about Riley and Co. It's not like he wasn't a great high school quarterback either, he did have a commitable Ohio State offer after all.

If Nebraska missed on Martinez I assume Frost would have went after Burrow hard. It probably wasn't a true either/or scenario, but Frost found the guy he wanted to build around in Martinez.

Riley tried to recruit him, but it was too little too late. Bo and Beck missed the boat on him, to go after a Swedish kid that ended up playing H-Back at UNT.

Pelini definitely dropped the ball, but it's hard for me to say the next staff did their part based on what Burrow said with the instant "none" response when asked about Nebraska.

I will say that the amount of time given to each staff prior to signing day would lead to Pelini's staff shouldering the brunt of the blame, though.

Edit: I found the article showing Nebraska did in fact reach out to him under Riley, so good call.

I think he may mean we showed no interest in him initially. I do remember we tried to get in on him late, and tried to get him for a visit. A World-Herald article from 2015 even quotes him as saying that we tried to change his mind. So for him to say now that we never showed any interest in him would contradict his own words.

Interesting. If I were him (wanting to go to Nebraska/Ohio kid) and Pelini (at Nebraska/Ohio kid) didn't treat me as a target, I would be pretty jaded. It could be similar to the Williams situation where he probably feels like NU didn't want him even though Frost made a late run.

I'm sure Burrow has spent some serious time thinking about it and has likely been asked that question a few times in the past given his connections to NU.

Cheering for LSU and Burrow to win the SEC this season. So tired of Bama year after year. Love the Tiger’s coach too! Geaux Tigers

I would have to do some searching and I might be able to still find it, but I came across a signing day interview with Burrow when he had signed his letter of intent with OSU. Without being prompted, he said in the interview that he “always dreamed of playing for Nebraska” but that didn’t work out but he’s “happy to be committed to Ohio State and be a buckeye.”

Agree, he made the right choice going with an elite program. Can’t imagine he would have even considered Nebraska as we have not done anything of significance in over a decade. LSU made the right choice, OSU obviously made the right choice, I suppose Nebraska thinks they did too....

I haven’t watched him yet (and don’t remember how he looked when he played against us that year)...is he a dual threat, Meaning could he have managed Frosts offense had we offered him early on and gotten him here?

I might be wrong but I thought I read at one time that there were some stipulations that he couldn't go to any other big ten team. Didn't know that was possible but sure I read that last year.

I believe so...He might not be as good a runner than AM but obviously he is the one that is playing like a Heisman candidate...

right, HAD things been different and we had Burrow here, I’d hoped we would have red shirted AM last year and let Burrow roll with this offense.

well being fair, at that time A. Martinez was looking like a future Heisman runner and Joe Burrow hadn’t played much at all. Martinez did look like the obvious answer. No one could have expected or guessed Martinez would play like he has this year...no one. Martinez could (and WILL) snap out of this eventually and get back to his old self. I have no clue what’s going on with him.

No... This is Burrow 2nd year..AM hadn’t taken a snap at Nebraska yet at the time..

Understand. We have a coach in training and he will learn to speak more like a professional as the B1G adapts to us Winking.

Wow, I swear you lack the brains sometimes my man. We (or I anyways) was talking about when Burrow was transferring from OSU.

Dude, martinez hadn't taken a ******* snap at Nebraska when he transferred from OSU. Look at the date on the tweet then get back to me about brainpower.

Ok Bruce almighty....Mr Martinez hater. If that’s correct, and A Martinez had not taken a snap when Burrow went to LSU, then I was off. I admit all the time I don’t follow other teams and i didn’t have a clue on the exact timing. So my bad, you was right THIS TIME ;)...hey at least I’ll own up when I’m wrong. Do you?
