Joe Biden once urged Democrats two days ahead of President Bill Clinton’s Senate impeachment trial that charges could be dropped without taking into account new evidence.

“The Senate may dismiss articles of impeachment without holding a full trial or taking new evidence. Put another way, the Constitution does not impose on the Senate the duty to hold a trial,” the Delaware Democrat said in a Jan. 5, 1999, memo Politico published today.

What the House collected from the witnesses they called IS the evidence of the case their delegates are to present in the court of Senate with the resident Senators serving as the jury. End of discussion regarding the concept that the JURY (SENATORS) asking for additional evidence to be presented. A jury NEVER asks the court to have more evidence presented after the evidence collected and presented therein has been completed. The decision rendered by the jury comes from the consideration of the case/evidence presented.

Yeah whatever counselor, why so scared?. Senate Repubs will say anything at this point to try to justify no new evidence/testimony. Just end it, voters will let you know in November how they think you all did.

How quickly you leftists forget, when it was in the inquiry stage in the House, you guys mocked Republicans that wanted to call witnesses and ask called witnesses questions, but were denied by Schiff.

You guys laughed and kept pointing out that House has sole power of impeachments.

Now you want to cry crocodile tears because the Senate has sole power to try all impeachments?

To you, I guess, turnabout isn't fair play? [laughing]

Cry us a river

Libs like @moe are so mad right now lol. Some of them have even left the board they are so mad.

About as mad as Pelosi right now...She's claiming, as I type this, that Trump will not be acquitted.

She's totally losing it, she's so mad.

She’s trying to use some leftist retard logic so this doesn’t look like a complete failure on her team’s part. Of course, they failed in the most basic aspects of their processes in that they didn’t even issue subpoenas correctly, let alone remotely come close to proving their case beyond a reasonable doubt. Their own witnesses destroyed their case. Fiona Hill and Yavonovich, both testified the Biden situation was troubling and had the appearance of a conflict of interest. Those statements, by themselves, introduced mixed motive defense and from there, it was over.

Dershowitz was masterful in his defense.

Soooo pencil neck offered the Repubs a deal.......One week for new witnesses. If I were the Repubs ....I would accept that in a New York minute.....if they can also get who they want on the stand. The end game is not in doubt and one week won't change anything.

He didn’t offer them a deal. He made up some ******** that they only needed an extra week for Bolton and he’d concede “relevant” witnesses. In his mind, relevant are only individuals from Trump’s staff.

“I will make an offer to opposing counsel, who have said that this will stretch on indefinitely if you decide to have a single witness,” Schiff said. “Let’s cap the depositions to one week.”

Yes....I knew your point.......3,4,5,6,7,8 more witnesses = 3,4,5,6,7,8 more weeks. However the Repubs should have pounced on him....they could have made him look like the fool he is.

Not partisan even if it was a party line vote? That's the definition of partisan. How ignorant can he be?

It happened to be bipartisan not to impeach and will be bipartisan to acquit.
