Not just developing talent, but really installing a work ethic, realistic expectations of their own prospects, and how to set yourself up for life instead of frittering it away. That's what players first really means. With Bill Self, you're on your ow after he's done with you. Cal still talks to almost all his players and goes to their games.

Probably not a good sign for that stength and conditioning coach and his future in Philly. I'd say they be more inclined to get rid of him than Embiid. I hope they both work it out and Joel helps his team (Noel really, since he's the only one I care about there). Foot issues and weight sure are a bad start.

On a side note...Cousins>>>>>>>>>Embiid IMO.

He is going to be the next Hakeem though. Good thing the NCAA makes college student athletes go to be hungry.

Disappointing. The weight gain really doesn't bother me. He was hurt and it can be lost with time.

Missing workouts is concerning. Judging by his recent instagram pictures, he still doesn't look too bad.

He was my favorite prospect in last seasons draft. Hopefully he matures and gets back on track.

Good.Good good good good good. Nothing would make me happier than to see the 76er tanking scheme fail so spectacularly. It's stupid and cheats their fans.

He should spend more time in the gym and less time trolling on Twitter. Kid is more concerned about being social media all-star than an NBA all-star.

The last thing someone with foot fracture issues should want is unnecessary extra weight. Each extra pound is extra stress being put on those foot bones when he runs. Not taking his weight seriously is a baaad sing for his future...

He lost his 13 year old brother. He had the game taken away with a back and foot fracture. He could be battling depression. Not making excuses for the kid but man lay off of him. I wish him well and hope he can come back to produce. The 76ers have no chance of beating the cats until they can get everybody healthy.

You guys should take this report with a huge grain of salt. John Wall was reported to have been "fat" last year before he came back from an injury and it was obviously ludicrous.

Here is a photo of Embiid from a couple of days ago: There's no way that dude has gained enough weight to be 300lbs.

Wiggins isn't playing "surprising well." He was expected to play well. That's why he was picked first.

Wiggins went from having ridiculously exaggerated expectations to ridiculously diminished expectations (in some circles).

The guy is good, and that has been known for quite some time.

Black shirt is very slimming and the women's white coat helps with the hour glass look but you can't miscalculate the impact of back fat not shown from this angle. No treble.

It's probably just the layoff from the injury, but you can be big if you're 7 foot. Maybe he's going to go the Shaq route.

He struggled some early, like every rookie in history, but he has been on fire for like a month now

you need to try stating facts before serving salt. A "couple of days ago" Philadelphia was playing in Detroit. That's the home floor of the Brooklyn Nets in the photo, where Philly was playing TEN days ago, not to mention you pasted using that cartoon-looking imagery that looks like a middle schooler's pastel work. 10 days is plenty of time to turn into a binge eater lazy-*** and piss off your employer when you're in a line of work like this guy. What is his name again and why do you love him so much?

He's a millionaire regardless, and has reached his dream. That said, I hope he stays healthy but never amounts to anything more than a role player.

Is that petty? No. It's pragmatic, and sensible from a competitive layout. The more guys from Kansas who underachieve, the better it is for Kentucky in the long run.

Just a "couple" observations....

Embiid is normally good for 100 or so replies...

and Kimo seems to be absent from an Embiid thread for the first time.

Hate Kansas but hope Embiid gets his head together. Always seemed to be a good kid.

When Wiggins left Kansas he was full of raw potential. But if it wasn't a dunk or spot up jumper, he was ineffective. Furthermore it wasn't surprising at all that he didn't improve at all under Self.

Now he has a better handle. He's creating his own shot. And he just seems more polished.

I still maintain Tha had he came to UK, he would have been incredible. Cal develops elite talent like no one else.
