K could be looking into the tournaments. Yes, it's a message to the bench. Duke needs help with long distance shooting, if you haven't noticed.

I think coach thought the shooting slump would end. We all did. I'm excited to see what Baker brings to the table. It will take some time.

So one shot constitutes as help? He shot once. Tre shot six from three and hit one so I’m lost still. Are you saying he’s an option better then Jack and O’Connell? I’m ok with that as long as his shot falls

Has Jack played? Did Baker play? I am just looking at the facts. Baker is a shooter and Jack hasn't hit a 3 since November. Does that clarify what I am saying?

Unless baker is lighting it up in practice. I just don't see why burn his redshirt this late in the year. Yeah he can shoot but it takes time to get up to game speed. 5 games wont be enough imo.

4 years the game is going to change. The heck with the redshirt. Baker is talented, maybe he can bring a spark to the team. Heck maybe it was odd to see him, but not many stay 4 years, let alone 5... but if hes committed to the program, hes ours for couple big years

No because Baker was 0-1 and it’s February. So your telling me he’s gonna be a shooter at the college level because he’s been practicing all year?
JRob has too and could have contributed the same way. Matter of fact didn’t he play against the Cuse in Cameron?
This move makes no sense unless he’s scoring point off the bench going forward I guess we will see Tuesday against VA tech

You know what, Joey looked incredibly happy over there on the bench while interacting with his teammates. I think he was glad to finally make a contribution...and he did...a couple of rebounds, a good block...that was unfortunately called a foul. But he came in with some good energy, and he probably feels like he's more a part of the team now.
Bet he helps us somewhere along the way.

You guys realize that he was a big recruit. If he starts putting up numbers like he’s capable of next year or the year after, he’s not going to be here for 4 years anyway.

I’m sure he had a say in the situation. Every game this season he’s been energetic and into it on the bench. Obviously K asks him to contribute, he’s gonna jump at the opportunity.

All of that and it kept Jack White on the bench. Thank god.

Ok but why burn his red shirt for what three minutes one shot? It’s head scratching but so was the fouling leading up to the half and Duke still gave them two points

Baker getting his RS burned is slightly concerning, as I’m not sure why you do that if Zion will be back in a week or two. Regarding the strategy used by Duke at end of the 1st half, actually think it was a smart strategy with the only issue being that Baker couldn’t do what K ask him to do.

He hasn’t played all season. If your measure of success for Joey is this game or the next, you’re going to be sorely disappointed. If you can be patient and enjoy the ride, I bet Joey adds something by tournament time. His red shirt is gone.

It would be one of K’s worst personnel decisions ever if he doesn’t play at least some meaningful minutes the rest of this season. And I’m sure K doesn’t need us on the board to tell him that.

His shirt has nothing at all to do with Zion IMO. It has everything to do with Jack, Ques and Alex. Alex just happened to finally show up and throw himself around out there. Joey will play.

Heard he told K he wanted a shot after the Louisville game.

Has nothing to do with him being here 5 years or not. If you were going to play him he should have seen time all year long. To burn a year for a couple of minutes is just stupid. Now if he sees action the rest of the year even if it's a few mins here and there I fully understand the decision.

As much as I like Baker.. instead of throwing away his redshirt now, I would rather K have given AOC 10 more minutes a game.. I feel like it would yield similar results, and wouldn’t have wasted Joey’s redshirt.. plus it would give AOC a lot more experience going into next year.

I also think we could have fixed our 3pt issues by improving shot selection.. AOC, Cam, & RJ (when he’s on fire), are the only players that should regularly shoot 3’s.. everyone else should never take a 3pt shot unless they are absolutely wide open.

What is "throwing away a redshirt"? Talented kids never stay 4 years anyway. If the kid can play, he can play. I liked what I saw from him. He didn't look scared, had two rebounds and missed a 3 (but it looked good).

Kids with obvious pro prospects or legit skillsets play because they can help. They don't red shirt. This isn't football.

So we are in aggrement that if he burnt his red shirt in February just to ride the bench it was meaningless. My argument is simply that it’s February next month is March if you were gonna burn it why not sooner and I get the arguement his contribution is yet to be seen but should Zion return how big of a contribution does any expect from a kid who will play in what, four more ACC games maybe prior to ACC tourney and The National Tourney. I trust in K but unless he puts up five to ten points coming off the bench or unless Zion and White are done for the season how much burn seriously does anyone seeing this kid getting?

I’ve been to the future.... he just sits a waves a towel for the rest of the year. Coach K just needed a guy to pick up 3 fouls, against his will, When he really wanted to redshirt.

Just kidding. He plays some, and this doesn’t ruin his life.

How was that negative? It was a bad move to bring him back.

Come on man.....it's strange for sure, but we don't know if it was a bad move yet. What if.......Joey hits a buzzer beater to win it in the finals??

I don't completely understand te move unless K felt like we HAD to have another scorer out there and took a chance. But we never know what may happen before the season is over
