Reds spent a lot of money on a guy who only had over 90 RBIs 4 times...in a pathetic hitter friendly park. He hasn't even reached 2000 hits yet at 37 and you guys are talking Hall of Fame?

But he walked a lot...so there you go. I hoped y'all enjoyed those walks.
Joey doesn't have a high RBI number partly because of his ability to draw walks, but also because he's bounced around the lineup. he even hit leadoff at times. but earlier in his career he was batting in the 2 or 3 hole most of the time and the Reds lacked capable leadoff hitters to get on base in front of him.

I think he's trying to club homers every at bat now just so he doesn't have to be a base runner. He's not the swiftest anymore and it's scary any time he has to go all out, he looks like he could pull up at any point with a busted hammy or something.

But yes, he deserves to be in the HOF. Until the last 3 years or so, he was among the best hitters in the game.

There are currently on 4 active players with more hits than Votto (and he has played at least one season less than anyone ahead of him.)

What a terrible take, stick to mouth breathing.

I don't like him but I would want him on my team. He is a good player. But if you think 1982 hits and 315 homers is hall of fame...ok, you would be voting in a dozen players or more who have been rejected.

I'm the same way. Huge Braves fan but my grandparents are from Cincy and I've actually gone to more Reds games than Braves games. I root for the Reds when they're not playing the Braves. But let's be clear, when the Braves are playing the Reds I hope the Braves beat them 30-0.

If you check baseball reference.com, his hall of fame monitor score is 91. They say a likely hall of fame score is 100. Just because so many of you love the Cardinals, Stan Musical is number one in that score with 452. Scott Rolen for instance scores 99 and Bobby Bonilla is 94.

Also, re the “average HOF”, I’d rather compare the bottom 25th quartile HOFer. Cause that’s what Votto really is. Also, look up Harold Baines. If that mofo is in the Hall, Votto can do it.
Murphy is 116, but I don't think he is in the Hall. It surprises me that Baines is in with a score of 66. Baseball-Reference.com has a wealth of info on everyone who played, star or a nobody.

Reds are the best hitting team in the league this year. Stats back it up. Top 5 and even top 3 in every offensive catergory you can name other than home runs.

Hits, doubles, on base %, batting average, everything. They dont even have all their bats yet.... plus Suarez is in a down year batting so far.
They have alot of room to improve and possess a top offensive team that doesnt need the home run to win.

Glad to see Votto is hot. Gotta have him and Costanallos at 100 to catch a wildcard.

Amazing thing is, they have 3 guys not even playing. Senzel, Castellenos, and Moose.

Votto isn't close to hof. Doesn't have the numbers. Really good player. Not great

This is just isn't accurate. Votto will likely be close Top 10 all time WAR for first basemen when he hangs it up.

He is surrounded by HOFers on this list. The avg WAR at position is 66.9 and that is with a hi of 113 and low of 54.

Votto is at 62.4 today. Assuming he adds 1 pt WAR per season thru age 40 he'd be Top 15 all time.

No one above him isn't in HOF accept Palmiero (roids) and Cabrera (will be in).

There would be 8 guys of 21 total HOF 1st basemen below him in WAR.

Votto isn't the biggest shoe in ever but I believe he gets in based on analytics which are prioritized now. Plus he is Canadian and you only have 2 other Canadian's in HOF....Jenkins and Walker. Votto's stats actually stack up pretty well against Walker too.

I don't see any scenario where he does not get in. He has the numbers already and advanced metrics should put him over the top. Plus as many have pointed out he's having a great year looks like he has 3 more left in him.

Sounds like the NL will get the DH as well... think Votto can hit for a long time.

GABP smokin' and on fire! Votto and Winker once again, leading the team with 23 homers each. Good time to make a run with so many games left against Pitt.

and the bullpen blows again!

I bet Votto could pitch for an out or two.

As to his HOF chances, he’s the second-ranked current active player for OPS in a career, and freakishly, his OPS for this season just exceeded his career average with two homers, two other hits and a walk, in the loss to Atlanta. His 2021 OPS has him in the top 10 in the majors, so far for the season.

LOOK OUT SHOHEI!!!

I don’t know what he’s found, but if he can bottle it for three more seasons, 400 HR’s is in reach!!
