Anybody think BP could add John L to the staff?

I think he would be a great addition and I heard him say he was interested in coming back to Louisville on the radio.

I think he could help Tony Grantham with the Special Teams.

I'd love to have John L back on the staff, as special teams coach ... Dude has energy. And special teams would be special again.

We need serious help there.

Why would he leave a headcoach job to be a special teams assistant? Do not get me wrong, I would like to have him come back.

John L[/B]. Smith[/B] (born November 15, 1948) is an American college football coach, currently the head coach at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.

He would leave the team he is coaching because its a no budget division III team I believe. I read an article a few months back and he is working for next to nothing at a very small college.

I vote NO. John L. had his day! He left fir greener pastures and dogged our fan base on his way out the door. There are plenty of young, energetic assistants looking to work their butt off. This train has passed.

No thanks. JLs time has come and gone. Plus he crapped all over us when he left.

So did CBP.

If we can welcome him back with open arms We can take anybody back IMO.

But all we worry about is winning. And he will. If JLS can help, let's get him.

I wouldn't mind having him back... on the radio. He actually did a pretty good job.

Why not just find a guy that can punt more than 35 yards consistently or a return guy that doesn't drop to one knee to catch a ball or run straight into a tackler? Seems to me that would be easier....

'Why would he leave a headcoach job to be a special teams assistant? Do not get me wrong, I would like to have him come back.'

Because we could pay him more than he is making, and even bigger, he wouldn't have to ride in a bus to games any longer. Besides, he would like to be back in Louisville. This would be a no-brainer for him.

And I would love to have him back. I'm tired of our special teams playing so poorly. We definitely could have won at least one more game with better special teams play. I doubt it would happen, but stranger things have happened.

'Special teams' are so darn important that if he would come back and help, I'd take him. Special teams do win some games for you each season. And they can lose some for you. We need to drastically improve.

So all you guys complaining about the way John L. left, you've never said anything you later regretted?

He has since publicly apologized for those remarks and said that if he had known UofL would get a Big East invitation, he wouldn't have left.

Our special teams would shine under John L and we'd be lucky to have him.

Here we go again, First, I would love to have him back in town. He was great for the program. Second, John L. did nothing wrong when he left. He told Jurich ahead of the bowl game that he was leaving and asked Michigan State to wait until after the game to announce so it would not be a distraction. THEY leaked it. His comments when he left were simply honest answers to reporters' questions. Jurich never had a problem with the way John L. left, and they remained friends. Great guy who loved Louisville. Honestly, though, at his age I would like to see him come back as a radio host.

Cheap shots at fans?

We have uk on SR DAY and the place is half full at intro time? There was nothing CHEAP about what he said. It was spot on )as some like to say).

Perhaps if he'd signed a 5 year $25 mil contract 10 days before he walked out on us we'd still love the guy.

John L is OK in my book, and kids LOVE to play for him.

Doesn't anyone else remember how we led the nation in penalities under JLS? Michael Josiah and his numerous cheap shots? I say let JLS stay at Ft.Lewis College.

MtC, I believe most want JLS back as our ST's coach and that's it. His special teams were always top notch, and lord knows we need help there. I agree with you about his team discipline, but JLS shouldn't have an impact on that.

A large portion of those penalties were personal fouls on kickoffs and punt coverage. John L's parting shot telling fans to realize where they were on the food chain was a cheap shot. He soon found out where he was,I say let him stay where he is.

And if we'd "realized" any such thing we'd still be in C-USA instead of in the ACC. It isn't that John L. was so rude that's important to remember it is that he was so utterly, thoroughly, 100% W-R-O-N-G, WRONG! It was a clueless remark on both the emotional and factual level. Because in 2015 we are feeding at the top of the chain.

Some people (and esp. some coaches feeding in the chain) just didn't and don't get the aspirations of U of L fans: which were both LOFTY and CORRECT.

We always knew who we were and that we were "nationwide" (thank you ZZ Top) no matter what else might be said.

The best is yet to come as that ACC revenue stream has barely begun to kick in.

That's is my knock on John L. He never believed like we fans do. We won't give up we don't need a coach who did. I like him as a person though.
