John Wall on UK vs '76ers

It's a really dumb question at this point in the season.

A lot of us looked at the horrendous lineup that the Sixers were trotting out in November and observed that UK could knock them off. Not that UK was better, just that they were capable of beating them at that point. They were starting guys younger than some of our guys who were undrafted out of college.

My thought was always that you could have stuck this UK squad in the NBA at the beginning of the season and they would have won 5-10 games. They would have gotten better playing every night against grown men, just like the Sixers have gotten better.

I agree with Wall's comments at this time, but to be fair when this question first came up near the beginning of the season the situation was entirely different.

For one the Sixers starting the season weren't the same one that they have today. Nerlens was hurt as was Michael Carter-Williams. They hadn't added Robert Covington, Jason Richardson was still injured etc. and many of the players were rookies who hadn't played a whole lot together. Beyond that they really didn't have many distributors who could get people involved or outside shooting to spread the floor (things which the current Sixers have improved on dramatically of late.)

In addition, the UK team at the time was also different, with Alex Poythress UK was playing full platoons, which really accentuates this team's strength. Without Alex in the lineup, and thus without going full platoons all the time, this UK team is still good but IMO is not nearly as dominating as it could have been (and this is reflected clearly in the stats BTW.)

So I do believe that at the time it was certainly a valid question as to how competitive the UK team and the 76er team at that time would be.

Right now, not so much.

i thought for sure that quoting the "@" a second time in my post would've gotten the point across that i was not replying to any sort of opinion.

next time, i'll just write "bump".

I took it that he was saying the story was "@" this link. You seemed angry about that.

nah.
when he links an article, he often times just puts in one character or another. sometimes two. one of his links today, his message consisted of an open parenthesis.

it was one hundred per cent a comment on the commercial at.

was an attempt at satyrical commentary on how opinions on this board are often replied to, considering no opinion was given. my "disgust" (perceived correctly, by the way, though not actual disgust. pretend disgust) was wholly with "@". his "opinion" was "@".
and has now, with having to explain it in far too much detail, evolved into an entirely new commentary.

FWIW, I just took it as you were too lazy to click the link and didn't realize that's where Wall's comments were.

Maybe the worst thread of the year. It's unbelievable that at this point in the season, when we're sitting at 32-0 and in the SEC semis, on the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the German cruiser, Dresden, that we're seeing a thread like this.

What kind of opinion is"@"? And the level the conversation in this thread so quickly sank to? Unreal. This piece of crap thread needs an immediate lock and every poster in it needs a permaban.

I think you might have just provided some resuscitation for this poor thread. It started out neutral, took a downturn, then resolution, and now a slight upturn. I never thought John Wall's comments would have caused such a ruckus.

I think OP could have just given a short blurb about what Wall said would have helped this thread immensely.

I don't want to click on every link on this board. A quick blurb helps me to know whether I want to click or not. JMO.
