Was watching ESPN last night and they were showing Miami vs Nebraska 2002 National Championship game. Jonathon Vilma unloaded a brutal tackle on WR Ben Zajacek. What happened to him? Was he a Sr?

Between the Vilma hit on Zajicek and the Trent Darby hit on Dana Brinson in 1988 I think. Those were two of the hardest I've ever seen our guys hit. De cleated...both of them.

Vilma was the main player behind Bounty gate. Not surprised. Seems like a good guy in the booth now on Fox

I thought it would have been targeting if the rule existed at the time. Watching the replay it was actually just a crushing hit, but clean.
