If just half of that is true he can kiss his career goodbye.

I hope he gets help and somehow turns his life around. More times than not people with issues like this can't get their act together. I don't care for him but if he's sick (and I'd say he makes a strong case for it) then I can only hope he changes his ways. No question in my mind that he's got some serious mental problems.

His career was over from the day he left home in Kerrville, TX for College Station where his great talent met his personal demons. This is another case of talent wins and personal demons are ignored in winning football games. This is not an isolated case in college and professional football.

Still extremely hard for me to believe that the Browns paid a consulting firm 100K to do an in-depth study on who the best QB was for them to draft. The consultant recommended Bridgewater, yet the Browns took Johnny Football. JF is now probably done, and TB just won a divisional title and went to the Pro Bowl, and Viking fans think they have a franchise star in the making.

I guess that's why they're the Browns.

Good post. I also hope he can get it together and have a productive life even if it doesn't include football.

The Vikings fans are probably wrong, assuming Viking fans actually think that. Bridgewater had very pedestrian numbers- well below average for starters in both rating and passing yards. That said, on a good team, he's not going to lose a game for you. And at least he's not a flat out bust like Johnny Football.

I don't have much sympathy for him we all have personal demons, not all of us have skills that will take us to the NFL,NBA or MLB yet we are able to make choices that allow us to live our lives and treat others decently in the process. We all make choices and we live with those choices.

As with all pro sports, it is more important to fill seats and win to increase TV ratings and profits. JF seemed to be the solution. And, yes, that's why they are the Browns.

They love Bridgewater up there...plus he did lead the NFL in Passer Rating this past December to go with the Vikings mediocre OL. He went to the Pro Bowl and won a Division Title in year 2 in the NFL...Main WR was Rookie Stefon Diggs...

The Browns are starting over again...could have taken Bridgewater or Derek Carr yet Jimmy Haslem was more interested in selling jerseys....Cal QB Jared Goff will be going #2 Overall in the NFL Draft to the Hue Jackson lead Cleveland Browns

Don't criticize him just because he went to UL. He played in the ProBowl.

And here you go again, defending UofLoL! And spare me the talk about how we have to beat them before we can knock them. You do the same thing over on the basketball board.

And I don't care about the Pro Bowl; I care about stats. His stats were very pedestrian- bottom half.

The only stat that matters is Wins and Losses...11-5 with a Division Title in his 2nd year with no weapons and a OL that gave up 45 QB Sacks...NFL Fans and players voted him in over Blake Bortles who had 35 TD passes

Without Peterson, they're a 6 win team.

They didn't have Peterson last year and ZERO WR...Rookie year went 7-8 as a starter and he won Rookie of the Year...so as a Rookie without Peterson already won more than "6" games...do you actually watch Pro Football...lol

I watch a lot of pro football, but occasionally my memory fails me.

Let me rephrase.

Without Peterson, that's a seven win team.

I'm sorry, but, given a choice of giving the lion's share of credit to a Hall of Fame running back or a quarterback who finished 22nd in passer's rating, and 32nd in passing yards per game, it's not a hard call.

With Peterson and Bridgewater they are Division Champions over the 2015 NFC North Preseason Favorite Green Bay Packers...without them they won 6 games in 2013 with Christian Ponder a former 1st Round QB.

That 2nd Year QB pretty much bailed them out in that Playoff Game...Peterson fumble was the cause of the Vikings losing the lead late in that game....Bridgewater and Rudolph got them down to the 8 yard line against the Legion of Boom....still haven't figured out what Blair Walsh did...

Also in the Month of December...$$$ time Bridgewater had the #1 Passer Rating in the NFL.

Walsh was the goat, no doubt, but 9 points generally isn't going to cut it in a playoff game. I realize the conditions were far from optimal for points.

Be that as it may, I'll stop picking on Bridgewater, but it's your fellow fan's fault for taking this thread off-topic in the first place.

Imagine a scenario on the Louisville board, where some player, who was picked ahead of Dupree at the same position, was blowing his career, and there's a thread about this bust's various problems. I come over there and start talking about how great Dupree is and how he should have been picked over this bust. Can you imagine the reaction I would get?

No...huge Bud DuPree fan...Never hold a player down on what College he went to...was hoping DuPree would have fall to my Cowboys. And even though I don't follow College Basketball want big things from Randle for my Lakers.

I think it got sidetracked was the Haslem/Browns case when the Browns had Bridgewater name on the Draft Card..the owner overruled the GM & took Manziel...in the end the Browns got burned and Bridgewater is in a much better situation and franchise...and we are watching Manziel career go down the toilet while Carr, Bortles, Bridgewater and even Winston and Mariota have promising starts to their Pro Careers.

I will agree that the Browns should have taken Bridgewater (or better yet, Carr) over Johnny, but, if you are a Bridgewater fan, you don't want him there, anyway. They've ruined every drafted quarterback they've had since they ruined Tim Couch. I guess you could say that they did NOT ruin Manziel, since he managed to do it to himself.

Only a matter of time before Johnny Footballs "Affluenza" defense in court. Lets hope he turns his life around before he actually gets charged with something .

I am not sure but it would seem he may get charged for this latest allegation.
Yep, posted before I finished reading the story. Guess we'll find out if a football player can be arrested in the state of Texas (assuming her statements are verifiable)

Manziel could really elevate a team, if he can get himself under control.

Still extremely hard for me to believe that the Browns paid a consulting firm 100K to do an in-depth study on who the best QB was for them to draft. I like Bridgewater, but to suggest he would have somehow succeeded in Cleveland is ridiculous. Noone was succeeding there, regardless of who it was. That Manziel actually looked good there when he had his head on straight showed you how good he could be.

Don't criticize him just because he went to UL. He played in the ProBowl.

Ya. So was any other NFL player who would actually agree to participate. The pro bowl should just end.

Isn't that the truth.... Think he played in CWS twice??? He was a damn good QB... Always liked being able to see really good players play live even if they weren't wearing blue and white... Browns used to be a favorite of mine growing up but ever since the original org moved to Baltimore they've sucked!....... Baltimore seems to have done okay... Must be some really bad management around the Browns... To be that bad it takes team effort:)....

The NFL is a joke. It makes me bored as hell to watch. I'd almost rather watch NASCAR. or watch flies circle a room.

Quarterbacks in college can make or break a team. At a place like Bama, quarterbacks are not needed because they have all the pieces in place.

But at most colleges, a good QB can elevate a team and thats what Bridgewater did at UL and would have done at almost any program in the country.

The NFL is the opposite. QB's are a dime a dozen. It's all about who drafts you. If Bridgewater was at Cleveland, we would be talking about how he has not had a fair shot in the league cause the Browns suck. Whereas we would be ignoring what Manziel has done because he was on a winning team at Minnesota.

Nothing could be further from the truth in the NFL...QB is the most valued position in that league that is why they make by far the most money.

Look at the Conference Title games...3 out of the 4 QB were former #1 Overall picks...the only one that wasn't was Tom Brady...6 out of 8 in the Divisional Playoffs were former 1st Round Picks with again only Brady and Russell Wilson not being 1st Rounders....the NFL is QB driven.

Manziel is a train wreck...most ignored it while he was in college but the signs were there-(being kicked out of the Manning Passing Camp) etc..etc. It also doesn't help that of the 4 main QB that came out in 2014 between Bortles, Carr, Bridgewater and Manziel only Manziel has fallen flat on his face...and Oakland before Carr went to them was consider just as bad as a train wreck as Cleveland...he is turning that franchise around-(if they can find a stadium to play in...the Oakland Coliseum is almost a literal toilet)

At this point, Manziel probably needs to go to Canada, and (1) on the field, light the CFL on fire, and (2) off the field, avoid so much as a tweet showing him slurping a beer. He needs to manage that for two years minimum.
