Bringing a different set of skills to the position is good!

It allows him to play alongside Lowe in some lineups. Plus, if he is efficient at scoring, having a scoring threat at the 1 is helpful.
I somewhat agree. However, we really need a pass first PG.

We don’t have one on this roster other than Lowe and Sources Say felt obtaining one isn’t feasible either. I’d say give Aberdeen and Oweh the backup pg minutes. Oweh has quietly become a better playmaker and has made great reads this year. He also puts pressure on the defense and has some gravity with the ball in his hands. I don’t think Jasper is a threat to drive and isn’t likely going to be this season

JL/ Johnson with JQ / MM setting screens and rolling to the basket for dunks and having Williams and Aberdeen on the wings to shot the 3 witH Mo on weak side to rebound should be our simple but very effective offense.

as JL is fragile Johnson should be the main back up. Oweh can interchangeably replace Williams and Aberdeen , so he will get most minutes and will add the drive to the basket as a threat combined with his improved shooting and passing.

all our players need further development … Johnson , strength , ball handling and helped on decision making Both on offense and defense but some of that is because of not playing enough to learn the system and personal.

JQ shooting , develop the hook shot and counter and learning when to leave his feet to challenge shots and when to slide.

MM to rebound with two hands , dunk more so improve his percentge in paint and overall work on his agility and athleticism.

williams strength and ball handling

And list goes on….

Johnson and Williams can become explosive scorers. They showed some fragments of what they could be , which in mind is enough to at least give the coaching staff more food for thoughts on whom should be on starting line up…. After all , it’s up to them and coaching staff to get there.

He can be pretty sloppy at times but the more PT he gets the better he's going to be in March.
Heading into conference play, it is too late to just give him minutes to improve. He has some skills that are unmatched on the team and a high ceiling and it looks like he is putting in the work. But his decision making is often a crap shoot and his body really is not yet ready for the gruel of the SEC. I think he gets first half spot minutes. I don’t think he is ready to play the point with consistency and he just is too lost at times on defense to steal minutes at the 2G.

He needs to play 25-30 minutes a game. He might make some bad decisions during that time, but you can see that he's going to be really good.

Ya know, I was going to disagree with this, but I thought about it and realized there’s a world where you split 120 minutes at the 1-3 between Lowe/Oweh/Kam/DA/JJ.

I still think JJ draws the short straw here, but 15 or so? Maybe?

That means he has beaten out CC and Noah and they are playing much. Could happen.

Not exactly endorsing it, but JJ playing under control and facilitating could get to a place where he needs 15+ minutes. CC and Trent are less necessary, especially if Kam is hitting threes. Also especially if Noah isn’t.

Noah has not been the offensive weapon promised to justify time giving up points on the defensive end. I think he will see only spot minutes in conference play.

If Oweh had a descent handle I’d be happy to give him more PG minutes. But he doesn’t. And he won’t.

I just think the options are limited for backup PG.

- Aberdeen - hybrid arsenal, but strength is catch and shoot (>75 percentile)

- Johnson - lack of driving ability, but strength is catch and shoot (37% three pt)

- Chandler - lack of handle, but can shoot threes (almost 40 percent)

Oweh can force drives and force help defenders to squeeze in. Is he is a pg? No, but at least giving him some run there lets him set up Aberdeen, Johnson, Chandler etc who are spot up guys, which is not one of Oweh’s strengths. I’m more looking at the personnel rather than what’s optimal in a vacuum.

He was a 5-star - he better look good against Bellarmine. Sheesh. He has been awful against real competition.

I want to see JJ become a pass first guy and really work at finding easier plays in transition. He has a tendency to want to pull the ball back out and hunt his own shot AAU style. We need him to make the pass quickly, then jump right back into motion for the set. When he pulls the ball back, he's just not beating guys at this level 1 v 1.

When he plays within the offense and takes better quality shots, JJ becomes a lot more dangerous and less of a liability out there. He's got a ton of potential if we can get him on track and playing in sync.

minutes are there to be taken.

chandler has been a massive disappointment this season. last 6 games, he is shooting 31% from the floor, 20% from 3, averaging just 6 points per game. and appears to be getting worse. outside the first 3 games when he was stroking it, he has been a non factor. and in our 2 biggest wins of the year, pope basically benched him in the 2nd half in favor of other guys.
