He was on staff few years ago. My son said he was liked by all the players, so could be good at getting more athletes out. The few conversations I've had with him gives me the vibes of an old school approach to things. Seemed like a straight shooter, which is why I think this is a good hire for these athletes. Played at St. Rita I believe.
My younger cousin was on that team that broke the streak by beating Plainfield C a few years back. I assume Fred was on the staff then. Hope he's a long timer, they would benefit from the stability especially after a year like last year. They gotta be able to stack seasons like that to keep the momentum.
First thing that went through my mind was that they hired Gopher from the Love Boat - but I assume a different Fred Gandy
