Hope he chooses Oregon State. Wayne Tinkle was Montana coach several years ago and my family got to know him when he brought his team to play Duke. He would be a good guy to play for.

A source close to the family told The Fayetteville Observer that Goldwire received 42 Division I offers since entering the transfer portal and will choose between Oregon State, Wichita State, Utah, BYU, Texas Tech and Oklahoma as soon as next week.

A course because Duke is loaded with players that want to stay more then a year and wait their turn!
He would have only been here another year as it was, and it sounds like his departure gets us a 3-4 year guy in Blake’s?

Are you sure he’ll stay? Or will he enter the transfer portal? Let’s say Roach stays to be a junior will Blake wait his turn? Does Duke recruit over him? Just saying.

I get that but either way Jordan is here at Max one year. Even now I’d take Blake over Jordan. So the point to me is moot.

I definitely wanted Jordan back. I certainly have no beef with him leaving. He earned our loyalty, we should wish him the best.
I think it is most likely a better than break even deal for us. Blakes already looks better on offense and, if Jordan got major minutes next year, it means Roach is a bust as of year 2 and it is trouble any way. If Blakes is as good on D as advertised, he is as good overall, if not better, than Jordan his first year. That, plus the chance of 3 more years make this a great deal for Duke.

Good point especially if the transfer rule changes. I’m not against getting Blake

I should probably point out that neither guy is on our roster at the moment. :) But it does seem likely we add Blakes. As I've said before; he's a decently rated recruit so he's going to want to play. I still think we could add a transfer guard; but that might be getting greedy. A junior with 2 years left would be ideal. Blakes is good insurance if Roach goes pro after next year.

Lot of those teams have a lot of minutes available. OU, just lost like 5-6 players to the transfer portal i think.
Imagine he ends up at OU or Texas Tech. Don’t see him going to BYU or Utah. Guess Witchita St and Oregon St are possibilities.

i always get the feeling that we know maybe 10% of the real story. Who knows if Jordan spoke to Coach K who told him he was going all in with Roach? I suspect that Coach K feels that Roach needs the shot of confidence that comes from being "the guy". Not the first time that Coach K committed to a guy who, for better or worse, kept the job through hard times. Such as Duval and Paulus.
