Where did this guy come from? That’s crazy. So is he in the same class as Stokes or behind him?
Same. He’s legit. Duke lean supposedly, but his dad seemed to really enjoy the visit at least.
I watched him play for the USA U19 team Jasper Johnson was on. Excellent athlete. Reminds me of Bledsoe. Never knew Kentucky had a shot at him. I thought he was Duke bound. Really good player
Is this the hold up on Stokes? A lot of top players being shown a lot of interest. Do they all end up coming here and giving Pope a superclass out of nowhere or do we end of striking out on all of them because we wouldn’t focus on a single player?
I think sometimes you have guys visit or recruit them just incase, but understand you’re probably not getting them. I think that’s the case for Jordan Smith Jr and Caleb Holt unfortunately.
I have the same feeling but if we for some reason don’t get Stokes which I Doubt, we will suddenly vault those guys up to the top and that money Stokes would get probably looks mighty tempting to Thompson and those two.
FWIW On3 has us second behind Duke at 20% so we may have a legit shot.

Well with the way players move around it doesn’t hurt to let them see the UK program in case they decide to transfer. Helped with JQ. He came back.

There was a holdup? I thought some media just thought his birthday might be a time he announced something. Did he have an announcement planned?
That’s the unfortunate thing for Stokes. He at no point has said he is committing or made a decision date, but rumors start going around that he COULD make a choice and people get mad when he doesn’t. Poor guy hasn’t said anything
No there’s no hold up. Just from the vibe that was on here and then didn’t even get a date. But yea it’s two years now and Pope hasn’t really snagged a top ten guy that’s kind of the hold up for me..
I was at Carson’s in Lexington on Sunday for lunch. In walks pope and Jordan smiths family to the table right behind us. I wish I could have heard a lot more but the jazz music and conversation at our table made it hard. Seemed like it went well. I did hear them talk about rev share, some nil talk and pope discussed how he would use him. Stated if j-Lowe was to have a great year and go pro he would be used a a 1/2 combo and slide over to take a lot of pg duties.
Also I’m not sure why my old information isn’t pulling up, been a while since I have posted and not since the switchover.
We will be lucky to be a hat on the table when he picks Duke.

I dont think it will be Duke. They already have signed guard Bryson Howard and about to get Rippey.
"I'd rather have an experienced transfer" seemed to be the popular sentiment on the boards as recently as late October.
I personally like the idea of mixing and matching. Give me a Ron Mercer to go with a Tony Delk and surround them with Jeff Sheppard and Heshimu Evans-level role players.
Travis Branham thinks it’s between Duke, Arkansas, Georgetown for Smith Jr. He doesn’t think Kentucky has a shot. He also talked about Caleb Holt as well and thought Arizona was in the lead for his services as of now: He thought Collins and UK are done. An absolutely disaster! Thanks, Mitch!
Branham has said that the Rippey recruitment will not impact Smith’s recruitment. Scheyer wants both.
JMI said they can’t use a UK hat without paying for it.
I think ideally we'd want a mix of at least one or two top-tier 5-Stars and returning players/quality transfers.
You need a star and you're unlikely to find them in the portal. (Although there are exceptions, as last season showed.)
Remember when the optimism was high? Before the season started off the rails and JMI problems didn’t quite exist? Those were the days.
