QB of the future bailing. I wish he would wait to see who the next coach is.

I’m beginning to wonder if there is benefit to firing Petrino before the season ends? Would it at least encourage recruits and potential transfers to wait things out or would it encourage more defections??

He's not going to leave school before the semester ends. I wouldn't guess at least....so I would think there would be time to convince him to stay if the new HC decides he wants him.

Gonna have to suffer until 11/24 or 11/25 IMO. While there are positives to canning 2.0 now there are also plenty of negatives.

A big problem with firing him today is the effort or lack thereof that you would get out of his relatives moving forward. They’d probably work noon till practice ended and do the minimum. If you think things are bad now just imagine if the coaches truly packed it in!

Lets just be honest here. Do you honestly think this team can look any worse? Doesn't appear to me the coaches are doing much now.

Something is off...big time. Its not just a bad season, its like ol Bobby gives no f7cks. I think at this point he knows hes gone, him, the fans and and the players have all given up.

Something is 1,000% off. Its why I get so frustrated talking to people that want to give Petrino another year. Whatever is going on inside the program it involves Petrino...you can't deny that. Keeping him will only exacerbate the problem. You can't force him to replace to staff because nobody wants to work for him and even if they did it would be hard to convince a decent assistant to come work for a coach who's seat is red hot.

The program has to be torn down and rebuilt from a mental standpoint. Which is again, aside from EVERYTHING else as to why Brohm is the right guy its the fact that his mentality and personality seem to be the perfect fit to change this culture thats invaded the locker room.

Not QB of the future, dont know why people say that. He isnt better than Pass or Cunningham and thats why he is not starting. With the right coaching he could probably be a pretty good QB but you can say that about Pass or Cunningham as well.

Petrino spoke highly of Travis and it was widely held that he had the most potential once he got more experience.

100% agree! Saw it with LJ his freshman year! When JT did get a chance he under or over threw the WR's more than half his chances. Granted he was running for his life on half of those, but still......

Maybe if he didn’t play QB. Me thinks he’s bailing because he thought he would be tutored by a great offensive mind and QB coach. Unless you do get Brohm, getting someone who had a reputation as a QB coach with ties to the NFL may be difficult. Our entire team is a mess right now.

Right, that's why I don't think it makes sense to announce this now. The kids aren't stupid, they know Petrino is probably fired and they've heard who's likely to replace him.....why not wait and meet with the new staff?

The word is he has a medical issue he needs to address, and would prefer to do that with his parents near by. Not sure if that's the spin, but, apparently he's left school.

Completely false..Mark Enis said on his show that it was a complete lie, possibly made up by someone on the coaching staff. Enis spoke to his father.....

Me thinks this rule allowing players to play 4 games and still redshirt could backfire. You can’t tell Travis, hey we are going to start you the last 2 games of the season so you won’t burn a redshirt and still have eligibility. If you tell him that then what does Pass and Cunningham think? Yeah, Travis is going to be QB next year so why give a rats *** if they going to give him an opportunity. It doesn’t make for a good “Friends” episode and causes discord within the team. You have to have a clear leader or there’s going to be a lot of scrutiny and questionable decisions.

So many things go into a decision like this. Likely, he sees to positive future for him here. And, totally (ok maybe partially) unrelated, has there been any more news about where Kelly Bryant ends up next year?

He’s taking a hard look at Auburn right now. He’s looked at Missouri and is scheduled to visit UNC. Outside chance of him coming here considering the coaching turmoil.

The staff spoke very highly of him but he hated it here enough to transfer. Could be multiple things with staff, energy around the program, didn't like the future outlook or didn't like the city. Who knows for sure, but you don't leave a school if you believe in the staff and you have a legit shot at being the starting QB in your sophomore year.

Two years ago we had the Heisman Trophy winner. Now we can’t win a game and can’t find a QB. WTH is going on?

I think it just shows you how much a factor is when you have a lot of faith. We had a lot of faith both offense and defense that LJ could overcome almost anything. Take that cape away and you’re exposed.
