If he brings some players, PSU should win at least 9 games next season....it's the weakest schedule they will ever see in conference. I would focus more on why Heupel is making a lateral move and will Kraft keep meddling or let him run his program.

Middle tier programs like Minnesota and Illinois look for solid hires. Heupel is not the answer. The big time programs aim higher as they should. Kraft’s aspirations and expectations are exactly where they should be for Penn State. The goal is a National Championship. No more low hanging fruit expectations like getting 10 wins against cupcakes and making a meaningless bowl game outside the playoffs.

A National Championship is very attainable in the current playoff system. Even with a poor coach like Franklin, Penn State managed to get within one game of the title game last season. Programs like TCU and Washington managed to reach the final 4 in the playoff era.

Lastly, please remember Michigan won 70% of the time during the Franklin era. So, the Michigan game next season will be a challenge.

I think at least the 3 peak years are seriously tainted. There is no debate...Kraft has fumbled this coaching change into a total rebuild. Also, where did he learn how a football program should be run? Boston College? Indiana?
If PSU doesn't enter top 7-8 NIL, I don't care who the coach is.

The problems at PSU All have the same cause. The perception that PSU is a top 5 program...when in fact it will struggle to be top 4 in conference.

You do know that Indiana does not have a top 7-8 NIL funding level. Yet, they are ranked #2 in the country and will make the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row.

Also, have you objectively looked at Penn State’s 2025 roster? A rebuild was imminent. There are major holes at WR, DT, LB, OL, and a lack of quality QB depth.

Kraft is trying to change that. As I understand it, PSU is willing to throw serious money at the next coach. That plus good NIL. o_O and the commitment to upgrade already good facilities should get us a good coach. Let‘s see what happens.

No excuses. I read right here that a high school coach could win10 games at PSU.
According to the experts here....the worst coach in history stumbled PSU to the semi finals. Every PSU fan should expect sustained excellence at the highest level. In Kraft we trust.

Major holes at wr and lb this year. Lacked quality qb play this year. Lacked experienced depth at dt this year. Fans picked them to win a national championship.

Maybe if we had better coaches than a washed up Paterno and an big game choke artist in Franklin we would have achieved more.

Franklin just can't win big games...and yes he did have the easiest path to a title game anyone will ever have. Ever.

Yes, I guess. But WHAT did he win? The B1G West was super soft when he was there and he didn’t win anything significant.

He did win the Big Ten west his final season--agreed not significant but that's good at Purdue
He also won a CUSA title at Western Kentucky
Don't get me wrong--not saying he's elite but he's a young(er) offensive minded coach that has NFL experience that has won "big games" in his career. Needs to win more often against lesser teams but having a talent advantage could fix that.

You wanted Kraft to fire Franklin. He fired Franklin and now you say he fumbled.???


It was a rebuild either way. Did you think franklin's recruits we're sticking once he was fired? Did you miss what happened at vandy when Franklin was hired?

Josh Heupel‘s Tennessee team just got blown out at home 45-24 to that powerhouse Vanderbilt team.

Heupel is now 4-4 in the SEC and his seat just got simmering hot.

Any more posters supporting Heupel as Penn State’s next coach?

I didn’t think so.

Wouldn’t be my first choice but he is not a bad coach.
