Have to wonder if JQ is considering a late Shaeden Sharpe. Wonder if NIL was guaranteed
Think I would have had him in for defense down the stretch Wednesday night. But I don’t know, that BG/Moreno combo really delivered.
The weird thing though — his father was upset about not getting even more minutes. So maybe this is an actual injury. No matter what either way, it’s not good for a team that already has a dwindling hope of reaching even moderate success.
I swear, I’m done if Pope returns next year. I’m not watching this crapshow. I’m only sticking around now under the smallest amount of hope that he steps down at the end of the year. If he doesn’t, I can’t support something that makes me miserable.

I wholeheartedly agree. If I had some reason for hope next season, like having someone like Stokes, I’d be more forgiving. But there’s nothing. Pope has nothing going next season. No promise, no hope, nothing. We’ll be without any recruits and probably an NIL package that is a fraction of this year and probably even last year. How exactly will Pope be able to recruit in the portal with no support? Pope comes back simply to collect his paycheck.
He needs to shut it down. His money is flushing down the toilet by keeping playing. Teams will play hack a Shack in the final minutes with him. Not many teams not willing to take one foul and come back and take 4 points to the one free throw he makes. Heck of an athlete, but he will be exposed this year. Great athlete that can't score and can't shoot free throws. Wish the guy the best but shooting is needed in basketball and if you can't do it teams will figure out how to offset the superior athleticism..NBA was after him with his athleticism but Pope is exposing him that he has zero offensive game at this point.
Whether JQ is hurt or not, he doesn't have the hops he had before his injury. And when your not a scorer, and are here for blocked shots and rebounds, it don't look good for us. No wonder Pope is a mess.
That honestly makes a lot of sense, sadly.
I have no idea, but it would be hard to blame him if he did, with this shlt show. Apparently most of our players are not smart enough to run the offense anyway, as Pope said he has had to dumb it down to the basics.

His stock is going down the toilet. You can't be bad enough at free throw liability that your team can't play you at the end. If I was a coach I would foul a player every time if he was going to give them one point at the foul line and I could turn around and get a possible four point in my tries.
If JQ has quit, I don’t know that Pope survives as coach. This is shaping up to be the worst UK season outside of COVID years in decades.

He can fake being injured or say he had been playing gimpy and get drafted on potential. Oh well

I was just telling my wife’s boyfriend last night he’d be out. Too much smoke about his injury.
Pretty conflicted on this one. If he feels like he’s not healthy enough to be effective and hurting draft stock, his best interest may be to sit. Something I think will continue to rear its head with hefty NIL guarantees.
I have been waiting on the phantom injury to come out. It doesn’t surprise me that it was JQ, he can’t dribble or shoot outside of 10 feet. Only Lottery he see’s is at Speedway or Circle K. Late 1st round or early 2nd ro Pick if he declares and that is only on potential not results.
The real issue with him though and its two fold, hes rehabbing from an injury and already missed much of the season. But also the team is in total disarray. Normally a 1AD wont have those two things going against him.
Practically every program in existence has had terrible years record-wise. We're not immune to that. People need to stop piling on Pope.
He cant be played at the end of games because he cant hit a free throw. He may well be done since he knows that and knows how bad it looked the other night and going forward.
If he wants to sit and wait it out for the draft, then GET THE **** AWAY FROM THE PROGRAM.
And he can’t make free throws, so you can’t play him in a close game like Missouri.
I understand that, but you know that there’s been drama around Louisville, Kansas as well because of Mock Draft concerns. It’s a risk that’s unique to these top 10 type players who already have guaranteed money and can guarantee a little more by opting out.
Explain what Pope has going to think next year will be better?
They would have played hack-a-Quaintance. Thats why be wasnt out there. We win that game if he’s out there.
I agree, as Garrison's defense on that go ahead basket by Mizzo was really poor.
