Won the last four without him. We will be alright.
I guess this is going to become the new "Game thread" post. Everyone now wants to be the first to report what we already know which is that JQ is out. Thanks for the update, but not sure it's going to be necessary for every game. Maybe post that he is expected to play, otherwise we can all assume he's not.
We also had Kem Williams most of those games. I hope we will be fine but he had been a contributing member in the rotation.
Might as well start a pregame thread for him also. Every game let us know his foot is broke
Some of us were thrilled, some of us were cautious about the possibility of him not playing. I think we should have used the money elsewhere. Hopefully he comes back healthy and helps us but I’m not sure at this point. I’m happy as hell MM has turned out better than expected.
I'm not sure this is going to continue to deserve a BOLD FACED THREAD every game. It reminds me of the old SNL gag from the golden era: "General Franco is Still Dead."

Why is this news? Him playing would deserve a headline and be a scoop. He's obviously experienced a setback and is going to be out until 100% healthy which makes sense. Goodman fishing for hits.
He is a shark. He was a big national media figure speaking out in defense of Pope and helping sell him to the fanbase as a legitimate head coach. And apparently they are or were actually friends irl
And then the moment Pope started sucking, Goodman did an immediate 180 on him and totally threw him under the bus. Pretty harsh
I wouldn’t want JQ taking minutes from Moreno at this point. Moreno is getting better every game. Let’s just roll with MM and Garrison giving him breathers and hopefully never make the JQ kind of roster mistake again.
and- let’s start making sure Moreno is here next season now. He’s an all-conference player as a Sophmore.
he's the only "must return" on the roster imo
I agree Moreno is playing very well. But a healthy JQ is far better.
A hobbled JQ is not.
It’s a tough decision. You really can’t play them together. Do you take a chance on slowing Moreno’s progress in hopes that JQ stays in the line up?

Moreno is good and likes being here and will return next season.
JQ is good but will be gone in 2 months and probably never step foot on campus again
Moreno is the starter and has earned all the minutes he can handle. I want JQ backing him up if available. Probably needs the limited minutes anyway. Garrison pushed to emergency 5th big with Jelavic and Mo D taking the 4.
Moreno is better than JQ in all stats including JQ stats from last year except blocks JQ almost 1 more per game

You hid nothing. Thanks.I call b.s. He is out with no intent of playing again. His last game wasn't exactly stellar and his handlers think it is better to hide the deficits. I don't expect to be proven wrong but hope I will (but I won't).
I don't think JQ would take minutes from MM if he comes back; he'll take them from Garrison and he's much better than BG.
JQ is much better than MM on defense but that is it. MM needs coaching on defending the post. Watching him get abused against TN while our overpaid coaching staff sat on their asses watching the game was maddening.
that's the only reason BG gets the minutes he does. MM kept getting sealed off over and over in that game. definitely makes some rookie mistakes defending the paint

If he’s still injured, I feel for him and truly hope he heals up. If the other is going on, then shame on everybody involved. Only a few really know the truth.
For now, we gotta roll with what we have. If he can help down the road, then welcome back big guy. If not, then I’d say Pope learned a very valuable lesson.

I respectfully disagree with that, I think Moreno is far headier, and better offense then JQ. I watch JQ last year, and he was very athletic for his size, but he was an 8 pt a game. He is not here the thinker that Moreno is, and I will go with Moreno to be the better NBA player

Imo just assume he isnt playing for the remainder. Moreno is honestly better for what we need anyway. If he wants to come off the bench and be a team player, ok. Otherwise just keep sitting out.
