I almost wonder if it would be in his best interest to shut it down and just work with NBA personnel to get ready for the draft.
I don't feel like he would improve this team that much, we need guys that can score and as broken as this team is, I'm not sure it would be good for his draft stock if he continued playing.
Hopefully he continues playing, I just wouldn't blame him if he opted out.

Don’t pay him. Someone has to start setting a precedent in college basketball. If players get turned off by it, we don’t need those type anyways. This garbage has to stop at some point and it’s time to start writing contracts like actual business transactions with incentives.

I thought this was already known. Pope said in a presser yesterday morning that it would still be a few more days before he reviews the timeline for JQ after observations. Just gotta have a “next man up” mentality and hope for the best.
Very fortunate that guy has been Malachi Moreno from the start year with Quaintance out.

Well, the charade continues. I was at the ladies game Sunday, and Quantence strolled right on by me without any signs of a limp or discomfort.

Call me skeptical, but my opinion is the only thing bothering him is getting exposed as an offensive liability, with bad hands.

Just another waste.

JQ should be a cautionary tale in portal recruiting. Do not pay a large sum of money on potential that’s only gonna play 1/3 of the season. Colossal waste of resources 🤷‍♂️
Kentucky low balled Caleb Wilson and recruited over Lewis. The irony is that we're paying Lowe and JQ around 4 to 5 million from reports. That's actually more than we would have paid Wilson and Lewis combined.

Just more wise decisions from our outstanding coaching staff.

It would surprise me if we saw JQ again on the court.
He had a real injury, he wanted to play long before the staff let him. Then he started having pain and swelling again and now he’s been out 1 game, this will be his second. This isn’t a kid who is shutting it down, it’s insane to consistently listen to posters bash him like they know anything at all about the situation. It’s all projections of negativity from past experiences and unwarranted. JQ is a competitor, he’s a tough kid and if and when he can play I can assure you her will. He isn’t sitting just to sit, he’s not that kind of kid.

I want to be upset but even if his camp is unhappy JQ does not seem like a complainer and hasn't shown bad body language imo. I think he wants to be out there.

St Johns he looked like a world beater, but every game after that he had no speed or movement. NBA teams need to see more I think and he probably wants to show more if his knee allows.

When I was watching the St. Johns game and JQ was a monster that game, I had a sneaky intuitional feeling this is the same as "big z". Same in the fact that they have a stellar opening performance, see them a bit more and they didn't perform as well and then never see them the rest of the year. Damn my intuition for being partially right.

If we had a coach worth a dang, JQ would play I think because they would not fumble and use him correctly.

The way Pope is handling Jasper and JQ is probably another splinter of why we won't get big time guys under Pope if he continues here in year 3 and beyond.

As a professional, why would he return?

His father’s comments showed his cards.

I would be flabbergasted if he returns, but nothing surprises me with UK Athletics and basketball at this point.

Cautionary tale to who? Everyone in the world knew to not drop a bag on this guy. Well everyone except one person.

I posted this multiple times when pope got him and everyone blasted me. Yet here we are. Thank god moreno wasnt the project we were told he was, or we'd basically be winless.

I would be very happy to see him back out there. The rumor was more swelling in his knee. If that's actually true, then we probably won't see him. He's got a lot on the line. This team, as it stands, is going to have some struggles the rest of the way.

JQ appears to be an athletic beast, but more of a defender/dunker. He would be a perfect Calipari player to have with an elite scoring backcourt. From last year, a Pope system big needs to be skilled in shooting/passing a la Amari Williams. I hope JQ plays, but I don't see whether he plays or not being a big needle mover for the performance of this team.

Well said this a long time ago and didn’t appear it was well received. Here we go.

He had to take JQ. It was the highest ranked recruit / OAD type he could get, who also was wanted by anyone else due to injury.

JMI / Pope - until these change you can forget landing anyone substantial in basketball until we get half their body.

Hey now lighten up on the staff. We had to go so far as to break a Saban rule to get Mark Fox in here! That’s some extreme stuff, Saban’s rule #2 for coaches is don’t hire your buddies or hire to back scratch. Hire the right guy.

When you have to break a Saban rule to get it done, you know it’s important. I know it was important I just don’t know what data / chemistry set Pope was playing with to figure this out..

I think I’ll trust the guy who dropped out of medical school, not another coach like Saban who never went. Our guy knows formulas.

If we had offered $4 - $5 Mil, UNCheat would have paid more. I think we were used to get a bigger payday from UNC. Our biggest issue is not coaching, it is recruiting. Wilson is just one example of recruiting malpractice. He was not truly shown why UK is better for his development and future off court connections.

Rumblings from his camp seem to point to shutting it down but I have no clue. Paying a guy to rest for the nba while his camp doesn’t seem happy
Rumblings from where? Other anonymous posters on this forum? It all may very well be true, but people who read other posters posts and then believe that it is gospel is what causes many crazy things to be stated as gospel on these forums.

When one reads enough mis-information all of a sudden it is counted as the truth.
