Saw on ksr+ where JQs camp isnt happy with how things have gone so far

Personally if jq transfers or sits our pope should be fired on the spot
Not happy with what? His limited minutes? Or that they're not running the offense through him more?

Pope won't be fired after this season regardless of pretty much anything. He'd have to commit a crime or have some all-time PR Blunder (Michigan football coach type stuff). And he just seems too clean for any of that.

Our best hope is he truly cares about this like he says he does and retires out of shame/realizing he's not up for the job.

I don't blame them. Just start the kid. He didn't even get 25 minutes today (24 I know but still). Yeah he stunk today, but you'll have to live with days like that while he gets back in a rhythm. Also, and maybe I'm wrong, but didn't JQ's dad say Pope sold him on the Amari Williams role? I have yet to see that.

Their big subs played better than our starters did. If that’s true JQs camp has to tell it all not just one side of it. That is a problem NO coach wants, JQ is working his way back and has to have time to fit in this offense. His offense and his defense was lacking today, truth be told. I don’t even want to hear that sh—. Pope is not getting fired this year, I’m not happy either but it is what it is right now.

Alabama was a donut hole to start with. Then they get 2 bigs hurt. Yet we don't pound it inside? I would be pissed too if I'm the best post player in college basketball and you don't use me against a donut hole.

I mean, there was 5 times within a 3 minute stretch that JQ did a nice pick and roll to the basket and not one player, Lowe/Oweh looked at him for a an easy quick bucket. Instead we dribbled the ball and played hero ball.

This is on Pope.

Oates pulled guys many times this game for not doing what he wants.

Pope has yet to do that. He did it once for BG and then has regressed back to not do that again.

He has some talent, no doubt. But he has no help. He's not a back to the basket scorer and Pope doesn't know how to properly utilize one, I don't think. I believe Pope expected Quaintance to catch the ball and drive, catch lobs, or rebound and dunk. All of this depends on guys making shots, which we don't have. I sure hate it, with a passion, but this team is not good. Gotta make some threes. This might be our worst shooting team of the 2000s. It's terrible. No need to sugar coat it.

JQ camp being unhappy is out of context. We aren’t in jeopardy of him packing it in or anything of the sorts. Lots of people unhappy and changes need to be made. JQ is a competitor and wants to play, so obviously he wants more minutes and more than 2-4 minute spurts on the floor. I think every fan wants to see that as well, let him acclimate to the game and work off mistakes. I’ve known him for a better part of 2 years now and he has a great work ethic and an even better head on his shoulders.

That’s because he’s not a big time basketball coach. His players don’t respect him so he can’t bench guys like that. He knows he can’t replace them with better guys.

You saw what I saw yet a few people have criticized his offense in here .

He is dependent on somebody passing him the ball and that’s not happening . Don’t see how that is his fault

Like JQ as a prospect but he got dogwalked today by a dude Nate Oats tries not to play lol
Yeah, but we didn’t play to his strengths. I already knew how raw JQ was offensively, and no I don’t want to play through him in the post. We could have extended our defense, stayed home on shooters and let JQ’s defensive gravity make Bama drives difficult. We didn’t because Pope will coach calculus when the situation demands simple addition.
