We’re seeing Automatic in the tiny foundry Oregon weekend but 1 is in town and wants to go to the game. I’m thinking about grabbing a RV in Harrisburg and parking it in front of @Tgar s house

Sunday (8/10) was the birthday of the late, great, Veronica Yvette Bennett. She was more commonly known by her stage name, Ronnie Spector. (I rarely offer comments with these birthday celebrations, but she was rock royalty to me.) She was a founding member, along with her sister and their cousin, of the Darling Sisters. Their group name was later changed to the Ronettes. To celebrate, their biggest hit:

Sunday (8/10) is the birthday of Jon Farriss. He was a founding member, and the drummer, of The Farriss Brothers. He remained with the group when they changed the name to The Vegetables. And he was still with the band when they changed the group name to one that achieved a great deal of success, INXS. To celebrate, their only #1 hit in the USA:

This 1965 Bobby Hatfield version of Unchained Melody just may be one of the greatest live vocals of all-time. (from the Andy Williams Show). The ease and confidence with which he sings such a difficult a song is simply "otherworldly"_.

Monday (8/11) is the birthday of Mike Hugg. He was a co-founder of the Mann-Hugg Blues Brothers, as a drummer, vibes, and piano player. He remained with the group when they evolved into Manfred Mann & the Manfreds. And he was still with the group when they achieved a good bit of success as Manfred Mann. To celebrate, their 1st hit, which was a cover (which they made famous), and then their biggest hit, which was a cover of a Dylan song that they released long before Dylan did:

Monday (8/11) was the birthday of the late, great, Rick Davis. He's more commonly known by his stage name, Erik Brann (also known as Erick Braunn). He's an interesting musician, in that he was a child prodigy on the violin, but went on to lasting fame as a member of Iron Butterfly, where he played guitar, and was featured on their unusual hit (when he was all of 17). To celebrate, him playing on that hit:
