From Ray Stevens' youtube account - some new conversation at the start. GC did this borrowing Janie Fricke's Ovation. What I love about this video is the admiration on the other star's faces. When you get Waylon's attention, you're doing it right.

Friday (3/7) is the birthday of Matthew Fisher. He joined the group Procol Harum as it was being formed, and had one of the more memorable parts on the Hammond organ. To celebrate, their most memorable hit (why he's wearing the robe in the video is beyond me):

Friday (3/7) is the birthday of Peter Blankenfield. He's more commonly known by his stage name, Peter Wolf. He was a founding member of the group that John "J" Geils formed, the J. Geils Band, where he was the lead vocalist, and co-wrote most of their songs. He was with the band from 1967 to 1983, when a difference in directions that members of the group wanted to take the band caused him to dismissed from the band. To celebrate:

Pretty amazing with some of the groups that are in. It seems like that whole group has been mostly snubbed. Boston, Kansas, Styx, Foghat, Toto, Bad Company, Reo Speedwagon, J. Geils Band, BTO, Grand Funk Railroad. If you were from the early 70's and into the 80's they have not been kind to you.

Saturday (3/8) was the birthday of the late, great, Randall Meisner. He was more commonly known as Randy Meisner. He was a founding member, and the bassist, for the Eagles. He left the band toward the end of 1977, after a messy altercation with Glenn Frey, after Meisner refused to sing his trademark song during a concert in Knoxville. To celebrate, the Eagles' song where he sang lead:

Damn it. I post a Mastodon song today and they lose their lead guitarist, Brent Hinds. IMO he was the best player of his generation. This sucks.

This solo knocked me right off my feet when I first heard it. He's also singing lead here.

Their concert in Rec Hall in the early ‘80’s is still the loudest show I’ve been at.
