First off, let me preface by saying I'm not objective when it comes to Hylton. He was a teammate of mine at Lincoln-Way North. Incredible high school career in both football and track. Rushed for 2500 yards in his senior year, 32 touchdowns. Coaches gave him the ball whenever they could.

But more importantly, he was a great ambassador for the school. Never had a bad word to say about anyone. I thought his character plus his great talent would lead to great success, whether it was in football or not.

That said, I was stunned to find out that he would be named a starter at Illinois. I honestly believed that he was buried at safety on the depth chart. Sounds like the Illini media were just as surprised.

I'm incredibly happy for an awesome teammate of mine and my alma mater. After all that went down last year with the school closing, we needed some great news about a standout athlete of ours. But Mr. Hylton deserved this.

Lovie wants speed on the field. They are going to live with guys making some mistakes it sounds like to start off the season.

I will echo the statement about Julian being one of the nicest politest kids in the school during his time at LWN.
I still think the most amazing stat from his senior year was that he had over 2500 yards rushing, 349 carries from scrimmage with ONE fumble lost the entire year.
