I'm not a huge Titans fan. Bucs fan, and no, I used to hate Brady. I lived in Tampa for a decade and am die hard, way b4 TB12.

Anyway I respect the he'll outta the Titans. I love Derrick Henry. The Titans now have the best RB in the League, a top 5 WR. The question now is can Tannehill win big games with these weapons??

The Defense is solid and now the pressure is on the QB

Onward to JJ

I know JJ has some mileage and isn't a pup but it didn't seem like the Titans gave up much to get him. I guess this is question too, did the Titans fleece the Falcons, or am I crazy?? A 2nd round pick and a 4th next year. Idk but seems like it to my dumbass

Discuss please...I know we have many Titans in the Paddock

LOVE IT! Hopefully with the running game they can reduce pressure on Julio to help keep him healthy.

I don’t think they fleeced them because we didn’t have cap space to afford him.

The cap dropped this year and we absorb most of that bad contract.

Now we cut or trade players away to make this work.

He has wanted out and everyone knew it. He has injury history and has limits at his age.

Because we also have AJ Brown and Henry I think we were the perfect match for him.

JJ will be absolutely great for the 4 games that he is completely healthy.

JJ will be semi-great in the 3 games that he is listed as probable with a bad hammy and winds up playing the whole game.

JJ will be decent for for a few minutes in the 5 games that he limps around for about two or three quarters with a bad hammy before exiting the game early.

He will absolutely suck for the 4 games that he is listed as questionable and winds up playing half a quarter on a bad hammy or not playing at all.

He will help the Titans tremendously when he is healthy. Will be tough to double either AJ or JJ. Pick your poison. That combo along with their running game is a very tough team to defend. Tannehill is a good QB. Very underrated. Adding that kind of talent at WR will only make him better.

The Titans are a legit SB contender.

Don’t think anybody’s getting cut or traded, Tanny will probably get a restructure which would save us right about 15 mil

Who told you the defense was solid? And I’m a titans fan saying that

When I here the word "solid", I think "good, not great." For the NFL, IMO a "solid" defense would be middle of the pack.....so, ranked somewhere around #16. Last year they were ranked #24th......and this was mostly because of the pass defense which was ranked #29th. #30th in sacks, #31st in pass TD's allowed. Rush defense was closer to the middle of the NFL.

Over this off-season, they've added Bud Dupree and Autry (Had >15 sacks between the both of them last yr......and both are very capable of 8-10 sacks each next yr. Simmons/Landry are poised to break out. They also drafted Weaver who might make a rookie impact. Then add in Jenkins, Farley, Molden, and Johnson (maybe??) And Jim Schwartz. And an improved offense. ......and there still is a long time before the season starts.

Do I think the Titans will have a top 10 defense? Not really, but I suppose it's possible. Do I think we'll be quite a bit better than #24th overall? Yes. I think we could get much closer to #16th overall.

Also we actually won or were wining quite a few games so other teams passed heavy on us.

Playing Watson twice, Rivers twice, Josh Allen and Ben for 1/3 of your games and your stats are skewed some.

I hope you’re right. I was pretty shocked when their defense wasn’t good at all last year. I actually was expecting them to be great based on the year before.

The secondary scares me. Complete overhaul for the most part. I’m hoping Farley can come in and be a difference maker from the start, but I would have hoped we had some guys ahead of him that can play….just in case.

The NFL changes year to year. So it wouldn’t surprise me if they have a middle of the road defense. In fact, I’d be thrilled if that happened based on what I saw last year. But I’m using the wait and see approach before I start thinking this Julio move is gonna put us towards the top of the AFC.

I do love the addition of Julio though. Offense could be great.

The offense now is lethal. Reynolds in the slot and firkser at TE completes the unit.

Defense is indeed the issue. Can they generate a consistent pass rush? That's the question. The talent in the secondary is legit(if healthy), but it's young.

Most of the problem on defense last yr was not the secondary. The issue was being ranked #30th in sacks.....thus pass rush. The byproduct that comes from a lack of pass rush is the "optic" that the secondary is terrible. Sure, the secondary didn't help matters.......but everyone will tell you that a single good pass rusher is worth 2-3 elite DB's.

My worries aren’t with last years secondary, it’s that basically our whole secondary is gone from last season. And we are putting our hopes in an injury plagued rookie (who is also very very very good when healthy).

As a Jets fan, it's been easy for me to see how a bad position group in one area, will have affects on other areas. And in football you see this the most. Our O-Line was bad, and that made the run game look bad.. And that put more pressure on the throwing game.

So I get it.. but I'm not sure I agree with one good pash rusher being worth 2-3 elite DBs. Guys like Revis and Ramsey (which yes, are past "elite" IMO) were just as important as an elite pass-rusher. Revis would shut down half the field. I would know.. he's about the only guy worth watching on the Jets in the last decade +.

DBs are seen as the luxury position.. but man, so many teams struggle to have good secondaries. Cornerback is maybe the hardest position to come into when joining the NFL, besides QB.

That is something I’ve heard numerous former NFL players, coaches, analysts say for years and years. I’m sure it’s a bit hyperbolic to prove a point but it seems to hold true.

Moreover, another observation I’ve heard is…..”look at the playoff teams year in and out. You will see almost all of the defenses have a good pass rush….and they may or may not have elite secondaries. However, you will rarely see a great secondary in the absence of a good pass rush.”

You are right though. Guys like Revis can change the game and are really hard to come by.

Well, the pressure wasnt on the rookie in planning. The issue was to place the pressure on Jenkins and Johnson. With these 2 seasoned veterans starting, they could slow play the rookies. However, just recently Johnson announced retirement (which he may or may not stay on). And they have plenty of time to sign another veteran if the rookies aren’t ready to go.

I’m not worried about losing Vaccaro. He was good a few yrs ago but really dropped off. Often Hooker outplayed him last yr. And the staff loves Cruikshank

I’m taking the approach that the coaches know better than me (which is obviously true), so I think they have a plan. I’m just staying cautiously optimistic. You don’t make the Julio move if you don’t think your big weakness from last season will improve this season.

Side note: I love that we are a team that makes these types of moves (big trades. Etc.)
