I still had hope for Edwards to blossom, but most likely that hope was misplaced. I wish them all well and trust that their replacements will prove to be better than they.
Who is going to play DT for us next year? I guess Gold and Butler will be the starters? It seems like we are going to be very thin there, losing Meiser, Kent, Spivak, and now Edwards and Blake.

Are you serious 5 DT to the portal? How will we ever recruit another DT with this DC. This position has been a strength for us, why suddenly not? This has got to be a wake up call for the coaching staff. Unless the staff is doing the purging.
I think Meiser, Kent, and Spivak are out of eligibility, not going to the portal. Those three plus Edwards were on the depth chart at DT, and now they're all gone.
The only DTs we have that I can think of are Gold, who's played a fair amount, and Butler, who's only been used sparingly but is at least young and could develop. I don't think we even have a DT in the latest recruiting class. Unless I'm forgetting someone, we're going to need multiple DTs from the portal.
Really just Terah. Spivak, Meiser and Kent all out of eligibility. Wyatt Blake is moving on but was moved back to OL about midway through the season from hell.
We are threadbare at DT with Gold (praying he's healthy), Butler (praying he is good), and Story (praying he has fully recovered and built up his body for B1G play) to go with the enigmatic Devin O'Rourke and some walk-ons. Austin Firestone might be able to play as a true frosh, but that is asking a lot. We will need at least two transfer DTs IMO.
I thought O'Rourke, Story, and Firestone would be playing at DE.
The other possibilities would be PJ Spencer, Carmine Bastone, maybe Duke Olges?
O’Rourke is not a DT. Olges is still in the program, but still has a long way to go physically and was repping at DE toward the end of games instead of DT (where I’d assumed he would land after bulking up). Story similarly probably needs 40-50 pounds.
So, yeah… we’d better be looking at plenty of big-body DT transfers.
Firestone is a DT, Story probably as well. O'Rourke has always been a DE and has struggled to bulk up to play that position, let alone move inside.
That is disappointing. Wasn't Edwards the kid we got out of Ohio that was a big recruiting win for us at the time?? It is amazing to see how little we've apparently gotten from the recruiting classes after the Taj Fitz was built.
If the preseason rumors are true and JON wants to run a 3-4 as his base defense, we just need a big hoss to be our nose guard. Does Terrence Cody have a younger brother with a 32 ACT?
