People were pissed at the defense; I was in section 230. It just got to a point, where no one really said anything. On that one play, where the RB broke about 20 tackles while running left then running right, people were fuming. Then it was resignation. No adjustments.

Was in 206. Couldn't help myself - started laughing uncontrollably after that play. It was the most Kentucky thing I've seen since the Bluegrass Miracle.

Yup..I know.I will get bashed for this, but it is true. We have a loser mentality fanbase. People getting mad because you stand and cheer. Hearing them say they hope that the team loses so we can fire a coach.
I agree Merrimanm..Some of our fans are a joke. I wonder why they go to the games with the negativity they spew at the stadium..I have sat by many of them over the years.

Yup. I got in to it with a guy two rows in front of me because he told me to go home because I was too loud. I will say this, I know fans don't play, but our atmosphere was awful tonight. We were up 35-10 and people were leaving. For a fan base that complains about the team giving up or not staying focused the entire game, we sure do have a majority of our fanbase that does the exact thing they bash the team for.
What do you expect man? We suck? I stayed til the bitter end myself. But man we just suck dude. Straight up. I said 5-7 4-8 if we lose to USM. And as always it's shaping up to me being right. Quite frankly. Im tired of sucking!!! Fed up with it. It's every freaking year man I just want to see a good product on the field I can enjoy watching and there's always this sense of excitement infer right before kickoff that's like who knows maybe it's our year. And this coach has done NOTHING. He has SHOWN NOTHING. Has not proven a DAMN THING!!!! I don't care how many 4 stars you have you're not gonna win games with ZERO adjustments (hasn't made one since being here)mand preperation. And it makes you wonder what the hell are they doing during halftime? Standup comedy? It's as if they had already decided they were the winner of this game so they just decided to take this halftime off and do some
Karaoke. This team as a whole has zero
Mental toughness. We let off the gas asa aif we were up 40 just waiting for the game to end pretending like it was way out of reach. A good coach makes his team 100% sure that this game isn't over at halftime and to stay focused,!' step on the other teams neck and I saw nothing to assure he did that. It was as if he congratulated them on the good half. Told them. How good did that just feel? Yea? Well go out there and do it again boys we got this under control.

I agree with some of what you are saying. But some things I see are not on the coaches. Players need to take some responsibility as well. So does some fans and many other people with the losing mentality.

How can this guy possibly be the best we can do?

1. In his FOURTH year (mostly his own recruits).

2. Can't beat a CUSA team.

3. At home.

4. First game (team should be fresh and prepared).

5. Against the OC he fired last year.

6. And gives up 31 unanswered points. (Edit correction: 34 points. I was being too kind).

7. And he's supposed to be a defensive minded coach.

And at least one of you seriously says he's the best we can do? Seriously??
If Stoops is the best we can do, just shut the program down.

I can't believe some in this thread are blaming the offense. 35 points should be enough to beat a cUSA team. Not to mention the offense only ran 14 plays in the second half, the offense didn't even have a chance to do anything. This loss is on the clowns Eliot and Stoops. What Gran and Barker did in the first half should have been enough to win. Period.

Yeah, the offense absolutely was not the problem. Stoops' wonder boy Elliot couldn't coach a wet noodle to satisfaction. 35 points and over 400 yards of total offense...in a half. Defense starts opening up like the Red Sea and it's the offense fault. You people are just dumb. Plain and simple. The offense got a whopping 14 plays in the second half and it's their fault the defense is hot garbage and can't get contain on the outside.

Definitely not the offenses fault. Granted I believe that stoops began his micromanaging horse crap again over the offense

^That's because he wants help. "Help me Mr Offensive Coordinator." My defense is a hot steaming pile of horse shiz and the only way we don't give up 800 yard is for you to drag the clock out as much as you can. How about this Mr Head Coach, start recruiting and landing dudes in the trenches. All I've seen is that you'll sign 15 defensive backs a year. Uh, hello, your defensive line rivals EKU's. Get a clue, please. Buy one, steal one, borrow one. But, for heaven sake, start doing the one thing that you allegedly know something about...defense.

Last time I checked, with a 35-17 lead you can still win, even if you give up touchdowns on every single opponent drive.

Excusing the offense's pathetic performance in the 2nd half is a joke. "But... But.. But... They only had 14 plays in the 2nd half." Last time I checked, they give you more plays if you can manage a ******* 1st down. I swear, our fans are about as ignorant as it comes with this sport.

I know. You've proven to not be very bright. I wouldn't brag about that too much. Self deprecation isn't a good look for you.

The effing defense is atrocious. The offense put up 35 points and over 400 yards of offense.

How many points and yards of offense did they have in the other half? How many turnovers.

Sorry you're too dense to even understand thr basics of the sport. Perhaps ping pong or tic tac toe are games you're more capable of comprehending.

Yeah, go run into a bar and tel a group of sports fans that your offense put up over 400 yards of offense and 35 points and you lose. Then tell them it's the offenses fault. You're a tool. I'm done with this convo.

Now why would UK fans have a losing mentality? Maybe because there is no lead big enough that they can't blow it

Tell them that they also turned it over 3 times and only held the ball for a total of 19 minutes and managed only fourteen 3rd downs and three 3rd down conversions. Like I said. Sorry you're too dumb to understand the sport.

Stoops has never set the tone.

First thing you is address the team and tell them this, "The first SOB who dances, gyrates, or break dances before the game is over, is done."

Make them watch an hour of film of Dave Kasper's touchdown celebrations and course of conduct during a football game.

Lastly take them to Keeneland. Probably should have done this in the spring. Make them watch a race that's a mile and a sixteenth.
Permit them to bet $2.00 to win on a horse. Explain to them that they don't get paid on a horse who happens to be ahead at the half mile post. They only get paid if their horse FINISHES the race ahead of all the other horses.

Point out that the jockey isn't standing up on the horse at the half mile point twirling his whip. Point out instead, he's working his *** off to be the first one across the finish line.

It's up to the Coach and team to BREAK this "losing mentality" by actually WINNING a game like last night.
It is up to everyone involved. But, judging by your mentality, you wouldn't understand that. Again, losing mentality to blame others.

Yeah, finishing the job would go a long way.

It's going to be tough watching future games knowing just how big of leads they have lost. That's not on the fans, that's on the team for putting that doubt there.

You're right, it's a "losing mentality" to "blame" the fans for a poor product on the field when Coach Stoops has gotten more support than any other football coach in UK history.

It's put up or shut up time for this Staff. The long-suffering UK Football fans have been MORE than patient.

I'm not going to blame the fans. Where I sat the atmosphere was good, the fans were into it as much as you can expect in year 4 with so many questions going into the season . Then the 2nd half started and the players quit and so did the fans.

The problem is the head coach. I want Stoops to succeed but it isn't treading that way. I can't blame fans that just want this dumpster fire to end.

I am not blaming the fans. I said we ALL need to change out mentality. Myself included. That is what leaders do. They take ownership and font point fingers.

In truth, Merrimanm, what do you really expect? With very rare exceptions, we have had a consistently poor football program for 60+ years.

To excoriate a fanbase mentality for this persistent mess seems a little unfair.

I live about 300 miles away from Lexington and have made the trip for most home games for 35-40 years. I doubt if I am an exception, but at some point, it gets to be a little much to put up with. If that is what you refer to as a negative fan mentality, I guess I fall into that category.

..... I am numb. As soon as Blake McClane dropped the INT I said, " That is going to cost us", an boy o boy did it. That one play in my opinion was a game changer. After 40+ years of this, I just do not know how much more I can take.
I became numb around this program 2 years ago I know exactly what you mean.
