Just how bad are things going to get?

We turned in a historically bad season in what was projected to be a historically good season.

Our pre-season Heisman candidate QB turned in an awful season.

We closed the season out with an inexplicably flat performance at home against a very beatable rival.

Player comments in the postgame presser showed little if any buy-in to whatever Beamer is selling.

NOW, to compound our misery, Vandy, who just kicked UT's a** in Knoxville to cap off one of their best seasons ever, is on the verge of possibly flipping the #1 overall QB recruit from UGA. Would be a major headline for them and give them TONS of momentum for the portal and going into the 2026 season.

Add onto that, UK made the hard financial decision to cut bait with Mark Stoops and has targeted Kentucky native Will Stein, currently the Oregon OC. That would be a major pickup for them and possibly shift the trajectory of their program, at least back to an 8-win type team.

Fellow cellar dweller this season, Auburn, got an apparently upgrade in Alex Golesh.

If Vandy is able to convert their success this season into flipping Curtis, the short-term outlook for us is not good. It's even worse if Stein comes in and returns UK to a decent 8-win type team. We could be finding ourselves being in the bottom 2-3 of the SEC for the better part of a decade.

Things just seem bleak right now. It's hard, if not impossible, to find one thing to hang your hat on. We can only hope and pray that Curtis sticks with UGA and Stein decides he'll hold out for a higher profile job in the near future.

The UK job is the perfect stepping stone for Stein. He can get them back to being a 7-8 team and other teams will come calling.

I doubt Curtis ends up at Vandy. I hear they are offering stupid NIL money but Curtis' mother really wants him to go to UGA. Vandy has a team full of seniors and grad students. Their roster is going to take a big hit after this season. UGA is one of the youngest teams in the SEC and Curtis would have a huge future there if he is as good as people say he is.

Face it, the University of South Carolina is a women's sports school. Everyone is fired up over the WBB season and upcoming softball season.

Look for Shane to make an underwhelming hire for OC next. No popular name is probably coming here with a possible one and done deal. They're going where there's a new staff and more job security and there's multiple teams hiring new staffs.

I can't imagine the #1 QB going to Vandy over UGA, but Nashville is home and by all accounts it's at least a tight battle between the two.

Of course, he plays at a Christian school in the smallest classification in TN, so maybe he's the next Brock Vandagriff.

The history of private Christian school 5 star QBs isn't loaded with tales of success. Arch Manning is a perfect example. If his name was Arch Smith, he would have been a 3 star HS QB.

UGA had Vandergriff and Jacob Eason, both 5 stars from private Christian schools and neither one did much at the college level. Vandergriff transferred to UK, did pretty much nothing, and then quit football. Eason transferred to Washington after he lost the starting job and did OK. He was drafted but ended up jumping around a lot and didn't really do anything.

I am skeptical of Curtis being a difference maker wherever he ends up.

Donati inherited Tanner's mess (Nepo Baby Beamer). If he insists on keeping Beamer on, it becomes Donati's mess. Someone needs to inform Donati that he would not be the first AD pushed out by SC.
Tanner unfortunately was allowed to keep his job way too long.

Let's focus on the positives this season. We beat Kentucky, taunted their coach with sunglasses and partied like we won the National championship. What a season!
Don't forget the big win over Coastal Carolina that pushed them to fire their coach. Good times.

Shane and the program are at the "we know its the end" phase of his tenure. As fans we know it to well. The recruits and players know it as well. I expect next year to be that year we've all come to expect as fans. It will consist of will Beamer be fired by mid-season or make it to the end?Once in this stage you very rarely get out of it. This exact time next year everyone will be focused on the new hc just hired or who is the new hc gonna be.

Disagree. Shane really believes we will be in the playoffs hunt next year. This is his downfall. Same way he thought Shula and Tinsley (spelling) were the answers on the offensive side of the ball. As mentioned previously, it's not a lie if you really believe it. George Castansa.

Personally, I would have also given him one more year with some very tight guardrails, including the end of the bafoonery.

Also, forgetting that Pavia is now at the top of many Heisman favorite lists after his performance on Saturday.

I have been hating on that guy and Vandy all year. I'm sure if they do make it into the playoffs, I will finally pull for them against Oregon or Indiana or whoever . . . and that punk will lay an absolute egg.

It will all depend on the staff Beamer ends up with after attrition and new hires.
Based on his history and HR record, things will be really bad.

That is the precise kind of fandom luck that befalls and follows us Gamecock fans where ‘er we go.
