Just how important is the Spring Game?

Apparently, the Spring Game is huge. Coach Riley said our incoming Freshmen all say the atmosphere at last year’s Spring Game was a major factor in the decision to come to OU. And that was during some less-than desirable weather conditions. Even more recruits will be at this year’s game and he hopes to break the 52K attendance record.

Who would have thought? I guess I need to get my butt 12 miles down the road and go to this year’s game. I haven’t been to one in years.

It's a big deal to me I'm gonna try to make it up for it. First spring game for me in years. A buddy at work is a big OU guy so we are planning on driving up. Really looking forward to it.
Riley just really has a pulse for recruiting. In coming years I don't think we as fans will have to worry about lack of talent at OU while Riley is there. I love what I've heard that OU has tried to do with the Spring Game in recent years.

Its important for recruiting. I never think its all that important to actual football. Many of the 1st stringers don't even play or play very little. Its cheap though and I'll probably go if the weather is nice.

I'm really curious about our defense after reading Riley's comments about slimming some of our players down to fit their positions etc. And here I was hoping we would get a little bigger. I guess that's why I'm an armchair DC.

OKLAHOMA needs to get a top tier band or act to perform, either before or after the game. It will pay dividends. I vote Bruno Mars.

Bigger is not necessarily better. Getting better will likely take time. There's the Texas Tech defensive culture that must be removed.

I am planning on going. Lots of real positives and a new energy. Nobody could match our offense...now it is time for the defense to shed the Tech image and go into higher gear. Coaches sound like they are bringing it. Got to see Hurts and the young pups.

Agree but I was sure hoping we'd be bigger up front especially after what Bama was able to do to us.

I'm just glad the Iowa culture is pretty much all removed. Next up: The Texas Tech defense culture. I guess I'll allow the Texas Tech offensive culture to stick around:D

Yeah; that was always in the background. At least Bob left the cupboard fairly well stocked unlike his old coach did in ia city
