Heh. Coach WOULD know something about leadership... From the post game:

"We're in such a line-item society, a Twitter world, so when one thing happens, that's the story," Krzyzewski said. "It's a good thing leaders don't lead that way. I hope they don't -- I know one uses Twitter a lot."

Also threw in a Maya Angelou quote. Love that man:)

I don't think this case is a big deal, but hopefully it doesn’t become a habbit. I just wish we could have our entertainment without having to hear our enterainer's political opinions.

Exactly lol but honestly I think it's getting blown out of proportion anyway. I don't think he really was trying to take a shot lol you wanna see him take a shot look up what he's said about obama doing brackets, that's a shot

First off, it is hardly a big political statement... Not enough there to be blown out of proportion:)

Second, why on earth shouldn't people be able to voice their opinion, regardless of their job? Don't like it? Say so, and if you feel the need to do more than that, stop being entertained by them, stop watching whatever they produce. Let the free market do its job.

Third, if you've paid any attention at all to K, I think it Is pretty clear that his version of leadership is a bit different than The Donald's, even if they are both technically conservatives ;)

I agree that there is nothing to be blown out of proportion. That's why I said I hope it doesn’t become a habbit. And everyonehas the right to voice their opinion. It is my opinion that it is annoying when entertainers give their political opinions because agree or disagree with them, not everyone they appeal to has the same views.

Sure, which is why I said that is likely the best options, short of "boycotting" whatever they produce; to disagree with their opinion.

I just get a little thrown when people get upset when certain public figures (especially in entertainment) give an opinion about something... While I may not agree with their opinion, and at times it throws me off when someone I enjoy watching/listening to (and so formed some sort of connection with) isn't who I maybe hoped they would be or something... I think they should always feel free to voice opinions. America and all that, you know?:)

I agree. This wasn't really an example of what I was talking about. I am just hoping it doesn't become one.

Yeah, America and all that. Where if an opinion goes against the views of the left, we burn buildings and smash people's cars up.

That's a fair assessment, using the actions of, like, a hundred people to label half of America, and the majority of the voters in the last election. Wait, can I try?

"Yeah, America and all that. Where (sic) if an opinion goes against the views of the right, we burn books and churches and crosses."

Yeah, no, feels narrow-minded and dumb to me, to paint with such broad strokes. I suppose to each their own.

You do realize what happened to those democrats, right? And who they really were? Hint: Google "Southern Strategy" ;). And I don't remember mentioning Democrat or Republican, but...

I agree, it is amazing what people could learn. Some of us have history degrees from the school we are all rooting for, and teach history, and have cracked open a lot of history books... And yeah, have learned a lot:)

Hey, if you all want to go LetsGoDukes way, and paint with these insane massive strokes, go ahead. It felt dumb to me.

Considering K's background, I don't view him as just an entertainer. This is a man who absolutely understands what leadership is about, especially when it comes to our young men and women in uniform.

I think they got their cold shooting out of the way yesterday and it will be raining threes all night Thursday.

Yes, I am hypocritical at times, and yes, there are some commonalities among people (for example, usually assuming the best case scenario for people on "your side").... but I and others are still a little different than you and some others.

Our coach made a quip about leadership and Twitter that was a tiny jab at our current President, who is known, by conservatives and liberals alike, to have a somewhat unhealthy relationship with Twitter. No big deal, a little funny, since K doesn't say much usually. I posted about it.

Several people posted, right and left, it didn't seem like a big deal. Obviously people who support Trump don't like it, and people who don't support Trump got a laugh out of it.

Then you posted some thing about lefties burning stuff when they don't like what was said. You know, some strange sweeping generalization that was sort of out of place.

I gently mocked you a bit, ending with the pretty specific point that I am not a fan of sweeping generalizations based on the actions of a few.

That's sort of it. You then started in on the Democrats from the 60s and the need to read textbooks and hypocrisy and the like, although I am not sure where you were going with it.

But yeah. There are some commonalities among all people. But there are differences. Some, for example, seem comfortable posting some hugely generalized statements; I don't. Some folks don't like entertainers stating public opinions; I never minded when Scott Baio or Clint Eastwood stating public opinions, because they are Americans, and that is their right. So yeah, there are differences between people, as you might expect.

I agree that Trump is an egomaniac who uses twitter far too much for someone in his position as our leader.

I should not have even posted ITT and that makes me a hypocrite as well.

Go Duke!

I think many of us can agree about Donald Trump and Twitter, including probably some of his closest advisors:). I appreciate your candor and even-mindedness, and will drop it from my end.

Call me simple, but if you really believe in "America First," then maybe you should consider judging actions and policy based on merit, not party membership or extremely narrow agendas. I think we all could benefit from a whole lot more of that.
