Here are his stats from last year, as he played 32.4 minutes per game for Tulane.
He appears to be struggling to step up to elite-level basketball, but it's very early. Hopefully, he is learning and will adjust quickly.

Trent Noah and Kam Williams look very different, but are very similar players.

One has better size/athleticism, while the other cuts to the basket to go along with his trying for 3 point shots.

Respectfully, Trent should have to shoot comfortably better than Kam to earn minutes over him imo. Trent can’t be a big minutes guy(like 15+) without shooting high 30s/40 from 3 point land at this point in his career.

Am I the only one concerned about him, he was recruited as a 3 and d guy but has been struggling in both aspects that were supposed to be his strengths.
I am very concerned about him. For all this talk about the NBA being interested and how highly ranked he was he looks overmatched and lost out here. I understand his shooting % and size could be something but as you said so far he’s not shooting, creating offense, or defending.

I was surprised Brandon Hawthorne did not enter the game.
Seemed a bit odd to me ... as 7 of the 9 who played garnered 20+ minutes.
At this point I’d like to see what he could offer. I bet he gets beat really badly on the boards and defense because of strength and that’s why. Imagine him out there too we would get shredded on defense the way we looked last game.

Like many of our players, Chandler, Noah, etc. I believe once we have our PG's back and Williams has a specific role, then he can work on that and thrive. These guys are necessarily creating one-on-one and getting to the basket.
I do agree with this. I’ll wait to see everyone in their actual role before getting too concerned. I do have some concern about a couple guys so far though.

It's too early to get a good idea on Kam, but I'm a bit disappointed so far. I was hoping he could compete with Aberdeen for the final starting spot.
not worried about competing for a starting spot, just want him to compete...........hustle, rebound, defend, on the floor for loose balls
his shot is horrible looking and so far haven't seen much athleticism to talk about
doesn't seem to handle the ball very well & as a result, has a hard time beating guys off the dribble

Again, we just beat Purdue handily. Exhibitions are not measurable to real game outcomes. I really wish people would understand this. That means you can’t take ANYTHING from an exhibition. Purdue shouldn’t be taken literally either. Neither game was REAL.

I’m worried about our SF spot. He was supposed to be the guy there with Oweh. Now with Noah and him basically being unplayable in some games we have little depth at that spot.
I wouldn’t be too concerned about the 3 spot. Once Lowe and DA get back, Chandler can move back to the 2/3. Not only that, but there's so much depth at the 5 spot that we could play Mo at the 3 on occasion.

Yeah I figure once they play their position it will be better, but I thought Kam Williams would be way more effective. Noah can’t play defense, that’s scary for a lot of the depth there.

This. Its one thing if he was only missing shots but he looks so lost. Its a long season but i think he is a year away at least.

I think Chandler needs to play 30 minutes. He’s our most athletic guard. He can create his own shot, and will be our best shooter. Yeah, he didn’t play great against Georgetown, but, every player sucked in that game.

The shots he is taking are horrible too, not even close. It looks like he’s pressing to try to get any kind of bucket he can. Maybe later in the year after he learns the system better and we are more well oiled he will break out some. I sure hope so because many people over the summer talked him up big time. People outside the program and fans.

Let's just hope that when we get our point guards back everybody will look better. Kam is a spot up shooter (not sure what else he'll do) and he needs someone to look for him when he's open. Time will tell....hopefully soon.

Probably not 30 minutes, but I think he should get a good chunk of playing time. He gets overlooked on here, it seems, but IMO he's our best option at the 3. Does almost everything well. I thought this team would be much more athletic, but I don't think we've done enough in that aspect.

Something to keep in mind is that Lowe and Kam were AAU teammates. We haven’t even seen them on the floor together yet.

I don't see the great athleticism in Chandler, that people talk about. He is 6'5" and should play above the rim, if he's as athletic as people say. I think Aberdeen is our most athletic, and will be the starter, and better player then Chandler, or Noah. As far as Chandler being over looked, I really don't see where he has earned anything yet. And believe me, I sure hope him and Noah come to the show soon 😊

Aberdeen is a better player than Chandler but someone has to play that 3 role. The only ones I think should get those minutes are OO and Chandler at the moment.

I feel like guys like Noah and Kam will look like different players than they have so far when both guards are back. It is huge in the college game to have a point guard that’s able to break down ball pressure. Everyone benefits when defense is in help / rotation. Also, Chandler will look better when playing the 2 or 3. Lowe is key to us taking a huge step forward. I’m not too worried, but I do wish Kam would be more active.

Kam needs to start over Noah right away. Noah looks like Perry was last year, missing every shot. Let’s see what happens Tuesday.

I'm hoping that Kam will be in contention for a starting spot or at least the top one or two off the bench. But, to say he needs to start over Noah right away due to Noah missing every shot is to say the least a stretch. You need to go back and look at the box scores again from the 3 "games" we have played. Perhaps you got the two players mixed up. lol

My theory: I suspect that a lot of our guys realize that because of our depth, their minutes will be limited. So when they are on the court, they are letting the pressure to produce get to them; causing rushed shots, missed shots, and poor shot selection. My positive outlook is that Pope will get this worked out of them and once players buy in to playing within the system and stop focusing on their individual production, shooting will improve. Getting them to buy in is easier said than done though. We had a special group of team first guys last year. I've not seen that mentality with this group...yet.

What in the world makes you say "most athletic guard" (Oweh, Lowe, Jasper, and Aberdeen are all arguably more athletic)? Best shooter? Seriously? What evidence do you have of that? He hasn't played or shot it well in any of the exhibition games. He finished last season 9-18 from 3 over a 7 game stretch. That's not many attempts over 7 games and is an extremely small sample size. If he's our best shooter and our most athletic guard, this is going to be an awful year.

Lowe, Aberdeen, and Oweh should all probably play 26-30 mins. Jasper fills most of the rest. Until they get better, Chandler, Kam, and Noah can battle it out for the 5-8 min scraps. The way they are currently playing, they probably don't deserve that much.

Chandler is literally weakest at creating off the bounce. He's much better suited being a catch and shoot within the offense kind of guy.

Easy sweetheart. It was effing Valpo. But Chandler looked good. He’s in the mix with Jasper, Lowe, Aberdeen, and Oweh for mins at 1-3. But don’t wear yourself out over a Valpo performance. He needs to do it against a team with a pulse.

I’m not your sweetheart. I like girls. Nice try. According to you, he shoukd only have played in mop up time last night. You acting like you already know the minute distribution is laughable. 🤡

It’s early…but it appears that Williams may be this team’s Almonor. Nothing wrong with that as long as he’s a good teammate and provide minutes when called upon.

Too early to be concerned.
Disagree.

It’s so early that he has plenty of time to turn it around.

However, he looks completely awful on both ends of the floor. His 3 Point shot, which is his calling card, looks atrocious both mechanically and statistically.

There’s plenty to be concerned about, it’s just too early to write him off.
