Wrestled at Nebraska-Kearney and might be the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet right now after tonight's performance. Can't see anybody beating this man in the next few years.

My wish is Conor McNugget was in his weight class so Usman could clobber him. Oh well, McNugget seems to have enough trouble in his own division.

Usman is the type of fighter that should never be allowed to sit down for interviews. He is smart and articulate and will bore you to tears talking. Joe Rogan had him on and cringe was the best way to describe it. Fighters like Masvidal and Ben Askren are very entertaining and are ideal for those settings. Usman is a bad man though. He got rocked early in that fight and just calmly got his bearings back and took Burns apart. Masvidal don't have anywhere near the wrestling that Usman does, but his striking may present a challenge for him when they fight.

I didn’t think Usman was bad on Rogan. He had some funny stories of coming up as a young wrestler. Masvidal isn’t anywhere close to Usman’s level. Their last fight was very one sided.

The Masvidal fight seemed pretty easy for Usman. It may have been the short notice. Usman has even said Masvidal took the fight on short notice so he had a built in excuse. Maybe he is right. Covington gave him a very good fight, and I suspect Usman wants a big payday fight like Masvidal way more than he wants a rematch with Covington.

The Leprechaun is short on options going forward. He needs wins, but there are only so many tomatoes out there. I wonder if he's started to realize just how expensive his lifestyle is. It's not as hard to burn through tens of millions as one might think, so I've been told.

I don’t think his heart is 100% in it. With a 100 mil., wife & kids, he may have to tighten up his wig. I’d just say thanks & be gone with my family.

I think they’ll have him face Diaz again so he has a better chance for a win. It’s the biggest name fight with the lowest risk for him. Diaz is closer to cowboy level competition these days than he is to the Poiriers and Gaethjes of the world.

Expect an outragous publicity stunt from Conor at any minute...it will make his bus attack look small. Needs to do something to bring his brand some excitement outside the ring cause he ain't getting it dun in the ring anymore, but I'm sure he wants to continue to cash the checks that went with his peak years.

I could also see another boxing match against Mayweather or Pacquio where he can lose in a mostly one sided match and it won’t look as bad because he isn’t an actual boxer. Another mma loss would probably be his last.

Its hard to be hungry when you show up for the fight in a 310 ft yacht, then unload your Rolls Royce phantom and drive to the arena.

I'm not sure that would be a very big draw now. It was a brilliant stunt originally though.
I think any fight involving Mayweather or Pacquio or McGregor would be an enormous draw regardless of opponent. Especially since it has been quite a while since they’ve fought.

Mayweather v Pacquio is number 1 biggest ppv ever. Mayweather v McGregor is number two. Khabib v Conor and Mayweather v de la Hoya are tied for 3, Mayweather v Canelo is next.

If they did Pacquio vs McGregor it would do crazy numbers. There’s a big reason why Crawford wants to fight Manny... he does huge international ppv numbers.

I don’t watch much UFC, but I’m confused why losing one fight equates to “not getting it done in the ring anymore”. Seemed to me like he was even winning for 90% of that fight until the calf kicks took its toll on his stance. And he kicked Cowboy’s *** in his prior fight.

Not a huge UFC fan either so we have that in common but he's 3-3 in his last 6 (I thought)??? and feels to me like he's fading. Question his drive after so many fights and so much money in the bank and he's already retired at least once. He's a lot cloaer to the grave than the cradle in his fighting career.

Ben Askren (who wrestled for Mizzou) was the one who gave him the name Marty from Nebraska. They often were wrestling at the same tourneys in college and Usman went by Martin Usman in college at Kearney. That is the answer.
Usman wanted to face him in UFC but Askren wasn’t nearly good enough to ever get a shot at him. I enjoyed Burroughs making Askren look silly in their wrestling match.

He's becoming a bit like GSP. GSP was better with his kicks and punches and developed his wrestling to a high level. Marty had the wrestling background first but has gotten really good with his hands.

He hasnt been the same since the Mayweather fight. He got that $100M pay day and he got everything he ever wanted. Houses, Boats, Cars, Watches, Suits, Family. He tore it up as a featherweight. Beat Diaz in the rematch then went up to lightweight and beat Eddie Alvarez. Thats when he traded in his hustle at the gym for the opportunity to become a Mogul. He doesnt need to fight anymore and it shows when he's in the octagon.

I certainly didn't expect Marty from Nebraska to slept Masvidal. He is the type of fighter that will make a guy fall asleep from boredom. Perhaps tonights fight and Covington makes me way wrong.

It was as expected. He steered clear of Masvidals strengths and used his speed and wrestling feints and real take downs to keep him off guard. He's at his peak right now and Mazvidal is on the downward trajectory of his career. It's a young man's sport.

lol no.... Marty fought like a bish thats why they're having a rematch.... he basically just clinched against the fence and spammed foot stomps... thats not fighting... thats preventing a fight
