What does that have to do with Pitt destroying eastern football as we once knew it?

How exactly did Pitt destroy eastern football? You realize when JoePa put his brainchild in front of Pitt is was a ND deal right? Penn St was gonna be a worse partner than Texas. Paterno hated Pitt for two reasons and only two reason. One he was insecure because pre Jonny Majors Pitt was garbage. Then from 1972 on Pitt got good. That’s the distant second Reason why. The main reason was Pitt was partially, not totally, the reason why Penn St didn’t get into the BigEast. The BE was a basketball conference in basically urban areas(NY, Boston, Philly, Pittsburgh, D.C.). It wasn’t a football conference. So the reality at that time was that Pitt didn’t want to quit the BE, which was great for them, to go into a joke Eastern all sports conference with Penn St. The BigEast and ACC had by far the best hoops and hoops had much more importance to the bottom line decisions back then. Any narrative blaming Pitt for anything is silly. We aren’t that important haha.

Don’t want to hear your Pitt message board narratives
Wasn’t Penn State it was Pitt who screwed things up
Even screwed things up for Penn State. They are in a conference where Ohio State is in bed with FOX screwing over everyone else

Isn’t it funny that Michigan has been dogshit ever since the Big 10 network started 😱

Why Penn State is listening to what the ACC/ESPN has to say

They could get a football coach and a bunch of recruits
Why not?
The question becomes how important is the B1G to their academics. Penn State IMO can stand on their own two feet academically

ACC needs something. This would be a giant kick in the face once again to B1G/FOX by ESPN
A lot of discussion about it the last month. Actually is one of the reason why WVU isn’t getting any play in the ACC

Do you see a major P5 football conference in the East?
Wasn't directed at me, but with the current state of programs, I don't think it would be very good. Back when it should have occurred, you had multiple strong teams. Today, perhaps those teams could return to glory, but it would require keeping recruits home. Syracuse, Rutgers, WVU, Pitt, Penn State, Maryland, Temple, Virginia Tech. Just doesn't sound as stout today as it did 30-40 years ago.

I think a couple reasons. One, that some decided to act like Texas, and stab a few schools in the back, by moving to the ACC. Penn State moving to the B1G hurt as well, and opened up teams like Michigan and Ohio State into the fertile recruiting grounds. I also left out Boston College from my list. They used to be formidable as well, but since moving to the ACC, have tanked. Same with Miami.

The more I look at this back stabbing by Texas, the more I think the eight Big XII schools should stay put, and add some decent football playing schools, teams like Boise, BYU, Cincinnati, UCF, SMU, Houston, whomever, and just tell everybody else to go F themselves. I know it won't happen, but would like to see them stick it to the two backstabbing programs, so they have to pay out.

You lost me at BC formidable.

The wheels of Penn State joining the Big Ten started in the early part of the 1980s. Joe Paterno was serving double duty as head football coach and athletic director. From this unique position Paterno could see that the future of college athletics rested in conferences. Penn State's non-revenue sports were struggling and weighing like an anchor on the athletic program. Football was paying the bills, but the entire department was at risk of collapse if the football team ever fell on hard times.

It was then that Paterno came up with his grand vision of an eastern all-sports conference that would include Penn State's traditional rivals like Pitt, Syracuse, Boston College, Temple, Maryland, and West Virginia. But issues over revenue sharing couldn't be worked out. Syracuse and Boston College felt their future was better served in basketball, so they joined the Big East and then coaxed Pitt to come along. Penn State petitioned to join the league, but the Big East didn't think their basketball program was up to their standards and they didn't want to be associated with football. (Syracuse, Pitt, and Boston College continued playing football as independents.) Penn State was left to wander through the wilderness on its own.

I've been to Penn State, and Penn State is a camping trip. There is nothing for about 100 miles. - Bobby Knight

Michigan Athletic Director Bo Schembechler said,

It might be an exciting addition. I don't know how they will fit in. But you don't add someone to the conference and not consult the people in athletics. That was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen done. I, and most of the other athletic directors in our conference, resent the way it was done, and if I offend some presidents, that's too damn bad.
The time has come that if they want to take over, they better consult the people who know what the hell is going on. They (the presidents) did it because of the friendship they have with each other. One president probably said, 'Hey, I'd like to play in your league,' and the other president said, 'Come on over and do it." That's about how much research went into that decision.

Minnesota's Athletic Director Rick Bay was one of the more vocal opponents to Penn State's invitation. (emphasis added)

"I don't think it's a done deal," Bay said. "Maybe it's some wishful thinking on my part, but I think I see some backpedaling."

Lot of people were ticked off that Illinois tried to sneak PSU into Big 10 at midnight without consulting members.

I can see why Pitt is upset now. They were finagled by Syracuse and BC in blocking PSU by joining a basketball only conference.

Of course not. But that wasn't my question. Your answer is a deflection. I am serious...please read my question again.
If you would open your ******* eyes you would see where I researched it further and pointed the true culprit.

But no you're just to busy trying to start arguements like your pals WVUFF and TVZ.

Getting flustered I see. Can't answer the question so it is just your opinion. Thought you might have a breaking piece of news. Guess not.

BTW...argument is the correct spelling.

Yeah. The ACC. Pretty much what he envisioned with Maryland obviously part of his brainchild. At the end of the day past Pitt administers have done everything they could do to ruin Pitt athletics. I know that more than anyone 😢
