Aidoo is good but when he plays players who are of a similar level he disappears and gets exposed every time. Hell ugo was better than him last year in the game they played in Knoxville

I think the point is, teams will pack their defense in and force Arkansas to beat them from the perimeter. This is why you need some 3 point shooters.
Let’s nip this in the bud — when defenses lock down driving capabilities of any of those guards and Ark reverts to shooting threes, you’re going to see a disaster.
As usual, this is a one-dimensional team with restricted options. Not to mention, this is an exhibition game against the worst part of KU. As someone stated earlier, this is fool’s gold.

Well good. Cal has been pretending to be an activist for years. This will give him another cause to work on besides basketball, where we know he checked out.
Weren’t they missing three guys ? Last night was Cal’s Superbowl2.
Cal has a top 10 team this season. We all know the talent is there. They have multiple future professionals. Fland is the real deal. Losing Quaintance was huge. Big Z needs to take at least 5 threes per game. He would have been a perfect compliment to Quaintance had JQ stayed with Cal.
The guard trio of Fland, Davis, and Wagner is probably the best in the nation. They've got tons of quality pieces. The question is: how does Calipari manage to screw it up? I think they have an Elite Eight-level team, maybe even Final Four-level.

Contemporary basketball has passed Bill Self by. Maybe he can be their Boheim and way overstay his welcome. The new big 12 is actually a conference too, no more beating up on TCU, Texas tech and Oklahoma state twice a season for a conference ship.
I saw the same old Calipari team last night complete with the same old flaws. Fland is fun to watch and DJ has developed a decent three point shot, but otherwise the offense looks exactly the same. Dribble around and run the middle screen to pound the ball to the rack. Big Z still has no down low game and will be owned by any half skilled inside big man. If he plays with Aidoo then you have the two low, stall ball, offense. Pack the lane and make them shoot.

I can't take a John Calipari coached team serious.
Put this in to perspective. They had 5.5K on a stream against KU. Some of that was UK fans, KU fans & basketball fans in general since it was a good exhibition matchup. We had 14K against KY Wesleyan.
As the kids say, “They not like us”.
Hawgs fans, I'm glad you're happy. Honestly. I don't mind y'all, at all. But... trust the 99.9% of Kentucky fans when we tell you, you're not going to be happy for very long. Cal will NEVER prioritize Arkansas winning over his players futures. Never. This will be a very frustrating time for you folks.
This is what I noticed as well. On ball defense was much better than we had become used to

Hey Ralph, I remember you had some intel a while back that made you very pessimistic about UK’s chances with Wilson. There seems to be some growing optimism nationally pertaining to UK’s chances. Have you heard anything to change your mind?
It's all centered around $$$. So if UK is willing to pay (which I wondered if they could do for one guy) they can land him. But this is strictly a show me the $ recruitment.
We all know what will happen. They’ll look like world beaters until January. Then the half court game will begin. He’ll start forcing his guards to pass up shots to force things inside. Gone in the first weekend…sweet 16 at best

Yes, because we all know Kansas / KWC are the EXACT same quality of an opponent. You made some dumb post thru out this thread, but this one is Numeral UNO. Everyone said Kansas will kill Arkansas, then Arkansas win, the goal post are moved "Kansas is not that good, they are not the #1 team, blah, blah, blah. Just like when a recruit signs somewhere else, "we didn't need him, he is not that good anyway". Cal is still in a lot of you posters head, it is embarrassing really. Try to make post based on actual things that are true, not fitted to cover your narrative. Arkansas will be good, to say different is just being silly.
The Kansas team Self fielded on the court last night loses double digit games, and doesn't make the NCAA tournament. Believe whatever you wanna believe, I don't give 2 *****.
If you're down 3 of your top8 or so players, it's going to drastically change your team. Is Kansas minus 3 players better than a D2 school? Absolutely. Could that D2 school beat a D1 team with 3 injuries? Also true, even if unlikely. That Kansas team last night, as is, wouldn't be a top25 team, maybe not near it.
The other problem is, after watching Harris for like 6 years, he's a streaky scorer at BEST.. and at worst he's a poor mans Michael Carter Williams with his shot. I think he's a solid player IF you have talent around him. But it's really like asking Savir Wheeler to run the offense and get buckets, it's just not gonna work.
So not surprised that a depleted Kansas team that's left with Harris, was going to struggle. Doesn't mean arkansas isn't good. Two things can be true, and I think a good 40 or 50 teams were gonna beat THAT Kansas team last night.

Pope said when he got here that he wants to recruit a specific type of kid, similar to Hurley at UConn. Money will always be a part of it now, but you don’t want it to be the only thing. I trust coach Pope’s judgment because ultimately, he is the one accountable for long term results.
Money is absolutely the main driving force for all these players. That's called being an employer and wanting to provide a comfortable life for you and your family (for those that have them).
Doesn't mean most of these guys also aren't competitive and want to win every game. Most people want to succeed at their job and this is 100% a job now.

I love Wilson as a player-he's fantastic. Been a fan for years too-so this isn't against him. Someone asked why I was not expecting him to be Cat and this is why. But I get it-if you are going to get $$$-might as well ask for it and take the most you can get in your 1 yr in CBB.
Basketball wise he's not selfish at all and does everything well. In fact prior to Cal's departure when Wilson was a lock to UK--I think I even mentioned Wilson was type of guy who Pitino would've loved in his time in Lexington. He can do so many things well as a 6'9 player. Can run your halfcourt offense through him passing wise and he can get a rebound/lead a break. He's a plus defender though. He gave AJ Dybantsa issues in Peach Jam Championship game this past Summer. Quick jumper/great rebounder. Just a winning player.
So don't mistake how he plays with his recruitment.
I love to “hate” Kentucky, it’s what makes it fun. I respect UK, I want them to beat everybody except us, when AR and KY are good it’s great for our league, it’s great for college basketball, and indirectly it’s great for each of us individually. Kentucky is good and very capable of making a run and having some real highs. It’s gonna be a long hard season in the SEC…for everybody.

Some on here are going to keep it real. If posters are looking for flattering posts about Arkansas, they should stick to their message board. I am not giving Arkansas credit for pirating UK players. Surely you are not suggesting that this Arkansas team is as good as Kentucky's 23/24 team. How did that turnout? Cal having an abundance of talent on a team is like giving a 1-year-old a 5-star meal. When the kid is finished, it will be a damn mess regardless of the quality of the food and that best describes Cal with talented players. When he finishes with them, they will be a damn mess.

Listen “Bro”, you’re still not getting it. Cal University is good not Arkansas. Reality will hit you in the face when you finally realize Cal only cares about Cal and his players and doesn’t give 2 ***** about the school. When he starts sacrificing wins for players protection or when he won’t make changes that are blatantly obvious and then he tells the fans to shut up and know their place then come back and post.
