JUCO DB Keisean Nixon is someone that Kentucky's coaches visited recently and he's been in touch with the Cats for some time now. He tweeted his top six tonight and Kentucky didn't make the cut. Georgia, Tennessee, Oregon State, South Carolina, UCLA and Mississippi State are his favorites.

This makes either Brian Cole or Lonnie Johnson (both JUCO DB's more important).

Not suprising. Jucos wanna play. If i am looking at UK depth chart at corner i would not be convinced i start. Westry baity griffin robinson. Now in saying that we need some safety help and Cole could be a nice fit.

Ok.. Am I the only one that sees that South Carolina HAS to be cheating? Have you seen their recruiting class? Who wants to play for them when Clemson literally slaughtered them last Saturday.

To me, nickel is about the best we could offer right now. Our defensive backfield is the best its ever been imo. And still very young. Cant imagine getting many looks from juco DBS

I'd rather have Lonnie Johnson. Would love to get both Johnson and Cole. I think we lock Johnson up this weekend.

Would help a lot to get both kids. We may need a starter at safety and our depth at safety and nickel is spotty at best and numerically abysmal.

Actually need both. Lost McClain and McWilson to graduation and West's recovering from surgery. There a some younger guys but need older and experienced guys to mix in.

Football players are developed over a 4-5 year period of time. Marcus McWilson, Blake McClain, JD Harmon are graduating. A year from now, Kendall Randolph will graduate. Then, 2 years from now, all of our current starters in the secondary will be gone. Darius West's health is in question. We need more defensive backs, especially safeties. But at this point, we don't need juco defensive backs as much as we need high school recruits like Ajian.

Exactly. There will be PT down the road, just not right now; which is what a JUCO needs.

I feel like Johnson fills the biggest need overall for our DB corps -- versatility. Experience and terrific size for a safety, really good athleticism and quickness to play at CB (which he also does in JUCO). That's a big reason he's the top ranked JUCO DB.

At this point, I don't see a reason to think we can sign Lonnie Johnson. I am not an insider, and I could be wrong about it.

You do realize that at this time we really only have one proven candidate for safety returning for 2017? That would be Mike Edwards. He can't play both spots.

West will be back. They have safeties locked up.

We need depth. But depth isn't playing time. Jucos need playing time.

West has had a broken leg in both of the last two seasons causing him to miss the entirety of both. M Walker wasn't up to speed enough to get any significant time this year. Gilliam red shirted. We have returning at safety is Edwards and a couple of maybes. I don't consider that being locked up.

Are you saying you're not in the least concerned given the above facts.

I am concerned. That's not the point. The point is its a tough sell right now to a juco with limited eligibility left
