Anyone feel like this spring is the new normal for KY and with the next 3 weeks showing nothing but showers and daily chances of rain. Seems something has changed from the normal we were used to. Not even gonna have a true summer this year and my garden is drowning.

Let's see, very wet this spring & very dry last spring. Wet + dry = average.

I think we need to completely change our way of life in Kentucky to combat the obvious & alarming Kentucky Climate Crisis.

1) Horse farts are clearly a leading cause so do away with all of the horse farms & cancel the Kentucky Derby. Install electric charging stations & solar panel farms where Keeneland & Churchill Downs used to be. Install wind turbine & solar panel farms on all current horse farm locations

1a) Institute a Free Glue Program for all Kentucky primary schools

2) Keep it Green!!! Dye all of the bluegrass to green

3) Shut down the bourbon distilleries and repurpose them as green energy production facilities

4) Use all of the remaining bourbon stored in warehouses to block out the sun. Spray it into the atmosphere via electric powered drones manufactured at Ford & Toyota plants…which will obviously now only manufacture electric vehicles & planet saving, sun blocking bourbon spraying drones

5) Appoint King Andy as Kentucky Climate Czar thusly repurposing him as Czar Andy

6) Install solar panel farms where all outdoor basketball courts are currently located

7) Cancel basketball altogether. Repurpose Rupp & Yum as Green Energy/DEI/BLM/LGBTQ+ Education & Rally centers

8) Shut down Louisville & NKY airports to the gen pub and repurpose them as private jet airports for politician & celebrity use only. Unlimited flights for Czar Andy to travel the globe to climate summits

9) Shut down the UPS hub. Dismantle the UPS planes & & trucks for use as spare parts for building the bourbon drones

10) Save the trees!!! Shut down Louisville Slugger & repurpose as a paper manufacturing company to supply fliers & posters for Green Energy/DEI/BLM/LGBTQ+ rallies/protests and to manufacture owner’s manuals for the bourbon drones

Save Kentucky!!!

What I’ve noticed over the last few years is how damn windy it always seems to be in Kentucky now.
We used to regularly cover our deck furniture with custom covers for the winter months, but now the wind just slides everything across the deck, slamming into the house and the deck railings. We no longer cover our deck furniture.

I first noticed the increased wind about three years ago when the 30 year old shrubs that lined the back of my home died. As you stated, items on the deck not securely fastened will blow over or move.

Winter desiccation occurs when cold, dry winds remove moisture from the leaves or needles of a plant faster than the roots can replace it. This leads to dehydration, which can damage or kill the plant, particularly evergreens and broadleaf shrubs.

You make a good point that I can relate to. We've lived in the same place for twenty-one (21) years and it's only in the last couple of years that we've lost several evergreen shrubs in the front of our house.
THANKS for the description of what's been happening.

Weather is cyclical. We’ve had really mild winters the last several but paid for it this year. It happens.

I’ve fished in April years ago in 90 degree weather and dry as a bone in Ky. Others not so much. Snow and sleet on Derby Day and 75 the next year.

It’s Ky

FM Global Insurance, which has a model that is used by a lot of big carriers, just recently released an updated model, which reflects more of our area, and many others, in a higher severity zone than used previously. Obviously, they see something, based on experience, which they have not seen before. This is not to say it won't change again. Just for the time being, ratings have been updated.

Weather seems more chaotic now but this thread is the first I've heard of all four seasons shifting entirely. That doesn't make sense. Most of March is still technically winter and can be unpredictable as we begin warming up. Summer doesn't automatically begin Memorial Day weekend. In fact, it's still spring until 6/20. It's been pretty mild because we've gotten a good amount of rain this spring. We've never immediately reached for flannels and autumn candles the first couple weeks of September. And it's not actually winter until a few days before Christmas.

I don't know what's caused tornado alley to expand (some say shift but that would indicate states like TX, KS, and OK are seeing less and us more and I don't think that's accurate) or why KY has seen bouts of extreme flooding and lots of tornadoes. But I disagree that the seasons have shifted.
