Kentucky eateries and bars closed indefinitely

Curbside and delivery are still available.

It's hard to grocery shop when the grocery stores are being sold out of stuff. I went Friday and there was no canned soup, no meat, no pasta, no water. I am a bit worried about what some folks will do..

Losing the bars is what hurts.

.. and it couldn't come at a worse time. Bars have lost St. Patty's day (parade day), ACTUAL St. Patty's day (tomorrow), and then March Madness this week. Brutal. There's probably not a worse time for bars.

I've asked a few owners what they would do, last week.. and they all planned to stay open. They have to. But states might continue to force them to close.

Not sure the governor has the constitutional rights to force businesses to close. Not trying to be political here or say it's good or bad, just making an observation. And no, I am not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV. As for me, I will continue to patronize establishments that remain open.

I do not like the slippery slope that we appear to be going on. The media and the government concern me far more than this virus. If this is a one-off situation, fine, but me thinks that it's not.

I see you guys don’t rely on patrons visiting your establishment to feed your children as I do. Hence the jokes. I get it though; my own fault for picking this industry to build a future on.

I think most of us will be affected. I rely on surgery and surgery volume for my income. These surgeries will inevitably start to cancel more and more until only emergent, life-saving surgeries will be taking place in the OR for the foreseeable future. Which will greatly affect my bottom line.

I did not panic, and am now down to about 10 days of food. I’m going to the supermarket tonight and am afraid I’m going encounter empty shelves because so many bought way more than they needed to. I know there’s plenty in the supply chain so maybe I’ll have to be there when they are stocking.

Are you a surgeon? Surgery tech? Just curious.

Every place is allowed to offer carry out/drive through/delivery.

I did see stores restocking as best they could. But yeah, a lot of the staples were out. Your best bet is to hit the microwave food isle and grab what looks decent.

My plan wat to just do various takeout and keep the bars in business. I hate grocery shopping as is, and certainly don't enjoy it now. But I'm planning for NY to also do some sort of shutdown.

On the bright side: this is the perfect time to start getting back into shape and diet lol.

No, I see how this has a very negative affect on the food industry; I am in the manufacturing industry; it hasn't hit us hard yet, but it will.

Yes, it's all about when their trucks come in. The wife went to Kroger on Sat afternoon and couldn't find any meat or fruit. She went back Sun morning and got almost everything on her list.

I'm not sure on this but I did see someone cite the law that allowed Ohio to perform this act so I imagine it is something we have as well. It was based on the health code laws in Ohio.

Y'all are all welcome to come to my place. Fully stocked cupboards/fridges, fully stocked bar (40 different bourbon/whiskey + flavors, vodka, rum, tequila, beer etc… ), tons of TP and a wife that absolutely dominates the kitchen.

Oh and I have my own work out room with a treadmill, free weights, pull up/dip set up, preacher, bench and med ball.

So far, the wife and I are prepared for this, just as long as we don't lose our jobs. I'd have to sell everything. Haha.

I recently started on a diet. Great timing! All the healthy food is still available. It really opened my eye to just how bad eating out was for you. It's a wonder I am not really obese. I just need to lose about 10-15 lbs.

This is providing a blueprint to our enemies for the most effective way to attack our country. I suspect our next 911 will be biological. The Taliban are probably trying to purchase something from China right now.

Hopefully, you will be able to get that “free loan” ...
thank goodness I sold the majority of my small business after divorce; my credit sucks. There is no way I would be able to get a loan to cover costs (interest free or not)
Hang in there, and prayers.
If I ever get in your area... i will visit your fine establishment

yep, agree on both counts. my gut tells me that this is normal: when you have a big public crisis, the reaction to it (panic among the populace, overreach by government, whatever) will usually end up being a bigger issue than the original issue everyone is reacting to or trying to solve for.....

I think we all lknew it was just a matter of time.

Beshear has been very aggressive in measures, and very quick to follow examples set by other states.

Pleasantly surprised at his leadership in this crisis.

I agree. Beshear seems to be doing a very good job. Must give kudos where it’s due, even if I’m not a Democrat.
