Hey bro, much love from me. Purdue is building something solid. I hope we get into a series together, it would be fun. It would obviously be more competitive than against Indiana 😂😂😂.

Anyway, I don’t dislike any fan because of who they root for, we all have our teams, mainly because of where we are from or live. Sports should be fun, not toxic. Welcome to the board.
Of course, the hate stops at the internet border. I had many IU friends back in the day. Not so much now because I don't have ANY friends at all. When I hit age 45, I stopped nurturing friendships and I became a full-time hermit by 55. I stay in touch with a couple of dudes, but for the most part I am over it. I want to sit at home, hang out with my family, ride my bike and do my work (career and side hustle).

I remember the old days when UK played against Joe Barry Carroll. Dude was a hoss. Had 25/7 against UK in 1979. BUT, UK won 61-60. UK was ranked #3 and Purdue #9. Local boy Fred Cowan had 18/8 and how ironic former Purdue Boilermaker Kyle Macy also had 18 with 3 rebounds / 4 assist / and 3 steals. It was in the finals of the now defunct UKIT. Purdue did beat UK in the 1970 UKIT as a unranked team beating #3 UK 89-83.

UK leads the series 6-2, winning the last 2 most recent, 1996 Great 8 matchup 101-87 and the 1997 Great 8 game, 89-75. Both games in the Great 8 and both in Chicago.

yeah, I'm not sure a lot of these hold up over the years. When Crean was coaching Indiana, it came out from several recruits that he was telling everyone on the recruiting trail that they remind him of Dwyane Wade. Like that was his pitch...you can be the next Dwyane Wade (played for Crean at Marquette). Wade was a hot item at the time in Miami.
More like Dwayne Wade's son ... er ... daughter ? son ?

Louisville fans say hi! ;)
Louisville fans are a step above Indiana and Tennessee.
I will go to a Louisville away game. I’ve been to most. Once or twice I’ve been harassed.
I WILL NOT attend IU or UT games at their place. It’s not if you will be harassed but how bad it will be. You will have at least 15 Fbombs dropped on you before reaching your seats just random, non provoked FU!! They are both trash.

Purdue fan here. Purdue and UK don't really have much of a history between them (at least since I've been a fan), but for the past 40 years I've been operating under the assumption that UK fans were like Indiana, Tennessee or Illinois fans. I've been lurking here for a few months, sucked in by the Braden Smith to UK rumors, and I have to admit I haven't seen a single comment that reflects negatively on UK fans.

I haven't gone into the depths of the board and have mainly navigated within threads that are related to Braden Smith, but you guys seem to have your heads on straight. Hell, I might even root for UK when they are not playing Purdue.
I can't hate you guys either. I went to Purdue for a semester right out of HS. Of course I became a UK fan later. Thanks for the classy post.

Wake Forest has a 35 game advantage in the all time series over NC? Purdue leads the all-time head-to-head series with Indiana 128–93.

**** -

Had no idea either of those series would be weighted towards the likable - other like that

I remember and loved the UK-IU basketball series that we had against RMK

Wars & not particularly friendly ones

Do you have BBQ at Purdue?
Do you know Craig Middlebrooks?

I haven't been to Indiana since 1995. Florida is home now. I do know through the media I consume that Purdue has come a LOOOOOONG way with rebuilding the campus and surrounding areas from what it was before. It's quite nice now. I will miss Garcia's pizza on Chauncey Hill. It's where I met my wife and kind of our spot when we were building the relationship.

We got some crazy, heck I get a bit crazy and maybe even like a bit of crazy every now and then.
Probably biased but I think we have mostly good fans.
Flip side I like Purdue, you guys knocking out TN the previous 2 years makes you dang near family.

I like Purdue, one of my best friends(may be RIP) graduated from Purdue. I have great memories parading around campus in the winter time. Taking in Football and Basketball games at Mackey. Some of the best times of my life. He had a cool apartment right off campus after his first year in the dorms. It was an awesome school. Love the Golf Teams golf course. We played in high school and would always play a few rounds a year there. Beautiful Pete Dye course that is extremely long and challenging.

A grown man yelled F KENTUCKY in my face in Knoxville as I was walking back to my seat in Neyland after getting a hot dog. I would've kicked his ***, but I was 8.

(I had the displeasure of attending every UK/UT football game in Lexington and Knoxville from 1988-99. UK won zero times. Can vouch that Vols fanbase up close and personal will make you hate them.)

Indiana fans are the most despicable, hateful pieces of trash in the college game. I cannot believe that we rescheduled a series with them again.
Agreed. Only thing Pope has done wrong, in my opinion.

I feel bad now for trolling your post. I do agree that one of the best things about retirement is that you don’t have to pretend to like people any more. But, I’ve learned that fostering a select few friendships over the years is essential. I still want to see live music occasionally with my dudes.

I was on a tour and same thing happened to me walking out of Thompson Bowling arena after we had lost . A UT fan screamed f Kentucky about two inches from my ear . The tour director was a large man. Separated us . Put his arm around me and escorted me out . Could have been a real bad scene .

I gotta say that I have always liked Purdue and Boilermaker fans. My dad's side of the family were all in Indiana. Dad and Mom were Kentucky fans and lived in Kentucky most of their life. Loved my Hoosier family while they were alive, the ONLY Hoosier fans I could ever love. My cousin Greg Jacobs went to Purdue qand graduated from Purdue with an engineering degree and he was the ginchiest! Love that cuz of mine !

You are always welcome here. I rather like to think that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, so you just come on over and contribute here as a welcomed opposing team fan anytime you want. We got a lot of other teams fans' around here, and I always like to see them chiming in.

And I just wanted to say congrats on knocking out the Vols to make the final four, it was great to see the Vols lose and Purdue get there. Just dadgummit if UConn ... gah!
... nevermind !

good luck on the upcoming season. welcome to the rafters, friend !
Flash has been discontinued so all of my games and interactive cartoons are gone, but this will give you the idea.

This was a flash game where you punch an Indiana fan in the face when he says something stupid.

This game captured all of the insane "We are back" and "the boys played hard" type comments you frequently hear.

I found this Indiana grad putting his Advanced Wheelbarrowing degree to use in when I was in Baghdad, Iraq. What a find.

I’ve never run into a. bad Purdue fan. To be fair, every single one has been an accomplished engineer, and caring about sports was beneath their dignity and intelligence.
Maybe I'm not an accomplished engineer, but I graduated in 77 from Purdue and joined IBM. I absolutely love sports. It was an interesting year coming to Kentucky in 1977-78. At Purdue, I went through the Alex "Agony" Agasse years. Basketball with Fred Shaus was good but not nearly at Kentucky's level - Kentucky went 10-1 in football and basketball won the NCAA in 78. Been here much longer than I was in Indiana. I guess I wasn't that good of an engineer because the Chinese at Lexmark let me "retire" in 2018.

That type of behavior is just senseless and born out of being red-neck cretins. It doesn't need to be that way. It's a sad state of today's culture that breeds it. Sadly, all you can do is just walk away and refuse to engage but it's truly sad.

It’s a lot better here now that political posts from both sides get taken down. This place was a MAGA cesspool for awhile and one of the most racist corners of the Internet. I was a loud political voice on the other side who would try to cut through the nasty rhetoric and I got suspended many times. It’s much nicer to just come here and talk about the team and basketball in general now. I made a big stink about politics ruining this forum for many years and something was finally done about it.
Well you deserved it with all that rhetoric so……

I'm the type that if someone had done that to me, I would have pounced on them right there and then. My husband is a big dude and wouldn't have been able to hold me back. We joke that I turn into a pitbull at times :(
